Agreed. I'm actually doing it running a 2 way currently with the HD-3's taking everything from 800hz up and the doors lowpassed at 250hz. Relieved a lot of the muddy booming the truck had. 12db slope on both. Blends fantastic. I'll add a tweeter soon, but almost don't need it. I have everything...
Personally I wouldn't bother with trying to aim the CDT's in the doors. Seems like a lot of work. Just for kicks disconnect/turn off the tweeters and just see if you can get the HD-6's aligned and up high. Much easier to aim and adjust the tweeters to match the mids then vice versa! And try it...
Maybe I missed it, but where are your crossover points? You've shut off the tweeters and just tried the HD-6's full range(just for the alignment) and tried aligning those first? (Great speakers by the way, I have two pair but not using them in the truck). If not it could at least help track down...
As you described it in your first post, yes they are. Not many amps will handle a 1 ohm load now days. Back in the day 1 ohm Sony ES, Orion HCCA's and Soundstream References would even go as low as 1/2 ohm. But power is cheap now, so no real reason for it.
Currently you're at 1 ohm that the...
Unless I'm missing something you're trying to pull a 1 ohm load from an inexpensive amp that I highly doubt is 1 ohm stable. The amp is most likely going into protection mode. You can keep the amp bridged, but wire one sub's negative to the others positive, then the open positive to the amp's...
I played around with them aimed (via the wrapped in towel method) up out of the dash and was shocked how well they sounded. I have the crossed at 800hz/12db and even the bass was much better and higher and more accurate. Artifacts in the music I suppose. Windshield reflections destroy the music...
Looking forward to pics. Higher sound stage then the dash also. I played around with a lot of ideas this weekend, got frustrated and dampened/ensolited my doors and door panels instead. lol.
What material are you wrapping the pillars in? I'm thinking black pillars would look even less...
If you aren't afraid to buy used shit, and accept that $300 isn't much money at all, you can find good bang for the buck. You will never have a 'great' system a few hundred bucks but you can make a big improvement over stock.
I was SHOCKED at how decent the stock 6x9's reproduce midbass once...
Agreed.
If you scroll down past his first post he has more photos on how he built them. Clean job for sure.

Impressive, but damn that's a lot of dough for a head unit! I like the fact it integrates with the Alpine DSP. I'm running the older H701 wonder if it would work with it? Suppose it doesn't matter, I'll stick with the $89 tablet concept lol. Out of my budget.
Update: Got caught up in other projects last weekend and did nothing (washed four cars though :/)
I did find a great job somebody on DIY Mobile Audio forum did in their 4th Gen Ram with HAT's. I guess the owner isn't on this forum because I haven't seen this before. Very nice work. A little too...
I answered that. :) It will automatically turn on when it sees power of the speaker wires......

DC Offset Turn-On: If Remote Turn-On is not an option, the next best setting is DC Offset. The DC Offset
mode detects a DC offset from the HI-Level speaker outputs when the source unit has...
I'm not sure how an 8" sub will work competing with four OEM 6x9's though, but I've never seen this Kicker before so it might be great, but seems on the small side.
As far as turn on:

mode detects a DC offset from the HI-Level speaker outputs when the source unit has been turned on."...
Was reading this thread:

but I've never been a fan of the non-oem look in any of my vehicles. I recently picked up some "B" stock CDT Audio HD-3's super cheap (from the Manufacturer, 100% perfect but no box or...
They seem to make different types though. Not that it matters, should all work I suppose! I can find tons of use for this. I'm going to mount my amps with it. :)
That's what I'm thinking. IMO almost all speakers sound better enclosed, just the feasibility of it in a car or truck isn't always the way to go.
I think I'll pick up some PVC pipes and endcaps this weekend and see what I can come up with just for kicks.
Which 3M exactly? I like this idea.
What does HAT recommend for those speakers enclosure size wise? Virtually all speakers will sound/work better, handle substantially more power etc in a 'proper' sized enclosure. The proper size is the hard part.
I'm working on some ideas for my...
Oh, also just bought one of those Dayton Audio phone mics. I'll try and do a budget RTA and post what I find. I've heard good things about them, each mic has it's own tweaked software from the factory to compensate for minor flaws. Interesting idea if you haven't seen it. Beats spending $1,000...
That's what I'm leaning towards. Easier then building pods for the sail panels. Can always resell on Ebay or here I suppose. I ahve too much unused equipment anyway. :)
Pillars on which side? Aimed up and out at the windsheild or on axis? If I do the HD-3 in dash, I'll need to place the...
Oh, and wow on the L3v2. But way out of my budget! You mounted them in the dash and it sounds good to your ears? I'm assuming if you have the speakers you know what your talking about! And it's exactly what I want to do just with a cheaper driver. :) I would LOVE to keep speakers in the dash...
