6.4 Hemi 2500 Towing Advice, Please...

I had a ‘14 2500 crew 6.4 4.10 gears. I pulled a 33.5 ft cabin cruiser with it. I was close to 16k lbs when it was loaded up. Truck didn’t complain once.

    "Test driving" a new 1500

I rest my hand on my gearshift. I can't get used to this. I CAN get used to the insta-economy showing 25 mph at 60 mph. My 2500 says 11.

    "Test driving" a new 1500

My 2500 had a Dr. appointment today and the dealer gave me a 1500 to use. Da fuq is up with that shift knob rotating dial thing?

I have $1500.00 left of my budget..

Step back and enjoy it for awhile. You will eventually find something you can't do without and your $1500 will be waiting on you.

tow mirrors - what are you running?

OEM on my 2500. Wish I had the power fold version though. They work great. They stick out further than ford or chevy so functional more than pretty.

    Towing question

Rule of thumb is figure 8-10% for tongue weight. So right now you can guesstimate 350.

    Towing maxed out.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to retune the transmission?

    Thank You for the advice

TPMS is stupid. Run the tires up to max and get the light to go out. Then keep them at 70 or higher and the light will stay off. 60 or 65 on the fronts. Cant remember. I ignore it. Or, if you want to keep you fillings intact deal with the light and keep the pressures lower until needed.

Questions on my new 2500 6.4

Welcome to "bad-ass-truck-ville"! Transmission programming sucks. That should answer all your questions. :-)

    5.7 Hemi in a 2500??

Oh, and as a sidebar, if you ever do that hire the neighbor kids to unload it. Ugh.

    5.7 Hemi in a 2500??

Tow operator said it was going to be 3500 lbs+ based on his math. I didn't roll across a scale, so have to take his word for it. I did have 3/4 tank of fuel and ~375 pounds of people to consider.

So I got in an accident today....

The "idea" behind suing is if something happens to you that impacts your future earning potential by disabling you from continuing to function on a daily basis. It's not meant to be a windfall which is what it is today. If you die because of someone else's stupidity or incompetence then your...

    5.7 Hemi in a 2500??

6.4L 4x4 with 4.10s and standard box. What I'm about to say is not legal advice! Last summer I I was a couple bags short of a full skid of river rock at Home Depot. The tow operator was refusing to set it in the truck due to payload concerns. The load was going to be over what the sticker...

So I got in an accident today....

Whatever you do, unless it's absolutely 100% needed, do NOT let anyone put your truck on a frame machine to check it. It leaves clamp marks and whether the frame is bent or not you just lost all value in your truck. Found that out the hard way with a previous car I owned.

So I got in an accident today....

My wife was hit in similar fashion in her 2005 Durango before we traded it. Dude hit the hitch square. Bumper cracked and was scratched a bit but that's it. Dudes car was taken off in a flatbed. These truck will take a lot! Don't worry about it.

Mission question for a Ram 3500 DRW

I was thinking calling a Penske rental place and renting the whole trailer. Hell I think you can rent a semi from them if you wanted. They should have what you need.

Trailer Mirrors. Any way to make them power fold?

Buy new mirrors. Swap them out. Or just drive into the garage anyway. They will fold.

Mission question for a Ram 3500 DRW

Those can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. I'd check into renting what you need.

    Power Wagon

Very true. But, if you are looking at HD trucks because you need to move a big toy like a decent sized boat or tt you aren't in the market for a power wagon!

    Outdoorsman Payload Question

The Big Horn package is a gimmick trim level just like the Chevy All-Star package. Take an SLT, throw in just the right options (perfect options imo) and sell it as its own truck. If you want fluff options like leather, auto climate control, fake wood interior trims, etc, you have to move up...

    Power Wagon

+1 to all of this. Power Wagon is purpose built for a different mission. That mission is NOT towing and hauling. But, if you want to go to the next Jeep safari in Moab you will impress a lot of people!

    Outdoorsman Payload Question

    Bighorn is an SLT.

How much is to much power??

I'd ask myself what you are going to do with all that power. If it's just to brag and you have the extra cash then do it up! With new 3500s being able to pull enough to require a CDL I think they already have enough. :-)

2016 Ram 2500 Hitch Drop Recommendation Needed

You measure to the bottom of the ball socket. Then the bottom edge of the receiver to determine drop. Standard rule is up to 2 inches high or low from level you should be ok. I set my trailer on my ball then measured with the sag on the truck before I purchased the drop. But if it's a one...
