Help! Can’t decide how to upgrade

I'm on my second 2500 CTD. My first was a Gen3 that had all the emissions stuffs and was tuned. I had no problems with light loads or failures. My current truck is a Gen4 and I wouldn't trade it for the world. For most of its life it was a driveway queen when not hauling the old Travel Trailer...

    Newbie Looking for a Truck

If you can find a 2008 to 2014 truck in your price range I wouldn't balk. Only prob with those is the DPF, which depending on where you live can be removed. Too many issues with the 2007.5...but for 08 and beyond RAM fixed most problems and the 6 speeds should be readily available too. The...

What to offer for a 2023

VERY VERY sage advice here. Not just in vehicle buying...but any BIG purchase......If you don't find what you want now...In the land of plenty another will be along shortly.

    Is it legal?

^^^^THIS^^^^ However, Emissions compliance is not federal or even state law. This is regulated at the regional level and can be different even in different areas of a state. For example Colorado. Further, what the DEP did in this quoted statement is called entrapment and IS illegal. And...

    5th Gen as towed vehicle.

We migrated from towing a TT with our 2500 CTD to flat towing it behind our Class A. Its easy peasy. We are using a Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar system and as others have alluded to we hookup the bars, cables and 7 pin connector to run lights and charge battery while towing. Even though our...

1500 vs 2500 for towing travel trailer (downhill)

^^^^^^THIS^^^^^ a 28ft TT is nothing to sneeze at. Cummins with the Exh Brake all day long for the win. FWIW - When we lived in high mountains Colorado and had family in Cali, I towed alot of those passes out west, particularly NorCal Sierras and Continental Divide (all the way up to BC and...

^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ I've been contemplating this for some time on our 2013 2500 Laramie after upgrading the old single DIN Pioneer unit in our Motorcoach with a Joying Android based 11 inch "floating screen" wireless Android Auto / Apple Car Play unit. These units will interface with your...

    front sway bar

for the 1500 guys IDK.... But for the 25-3500s the best front sway bar on the market is the Thuren one. Flex where you need it, firm where you don't. Transformed the ride and handling of our truck

CTDs Can Suffer If Not Worked Hard. Please Elaborate

^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^ The question the OP puts forth is very much a complete and utter fallacy. I have owned now 2 6.7L CTD powered Ram 2500s The first was never ever worked hard, never towed a thing, offroad like twice in its lifetime. A complete commute / parking lot queen. Tuned with the...

RAM 2500 6.4 vs Cummins for Travel Trailer with 7500lb GVWR

I've not had this problem with biodeisel at all..Further the Cummins trucks has the block heater as an option and I believe at least on my truck it heats alot more than just the engine block.

RAM 2500 6.4 vs Cummins for Travel Trailer with 7500lb GVWR

The one thing then to consider is gas mileage then. The Cummins gets much better gas mileage particularly when pulling. If you have biodeisel available you'll see a huge improvement in range..particularly unloaded. Some peace of mind when driving off the beaten path through say The Kooteneys...

RAM 2500 6.4 vs Cummins for Travel Trailer with 7500lb GVWR

If we are all honest with ourselves.... @OP: If you at all are going to tow on one of the main interstates of this great country..except near cities, the flow of traffic will be 70-75mph (or higher). If you're not able to do that you become a hazard for everyone else. A gas powered 2500 just...

    Should I get a Diesel

Some things to consider OP: 1. If you think you need/want the Cummins...GET IT....particularly for towing your life will be much improved with heavier chunk of metal under the hood, the lower revs and particularly the exhaust brake. Further, the Gen4 and newer CrewCab trucks are super comfy for...

Ram 2023 Limited diesel vs 2023 Yukon Denali diesel

Also lots of problems with lifters / valve / engine in the Yukon - Tahoe line. Which is a shame bc the new body style Yukon (2021+) is a beauty inside and out. While it would be very hard to get rid of our Ram 2500, we did look at replacing the wife's V8 LR4 with the new GMC Tahoe AT4 to give...

I Live in SW Arizona. When Might Be the Best Time of Year to Shop For a Used 5th Wheel?

Lolz.... Totally disagree. I think what is important is deciding and ranking what features you want or need in a new TT or RV. If you can fit them all in at your purchase price..awesome!! If not, then you'll have to make concessions. In our experience searching for a new TT or RV to replace...

I Live in SW Arizona. When Might Be the Best Time of Year to Shop For a Used 5th Wheel?

    Towing Camping Trailer

Having now been inside 100s of TT's, motor homes and coaches in our search for something newer, I can clearly say that our Cougar was clearly a normal model in every sense.....except maybe we had 50A power? IMHO in our search I can say that very few new assembly line built TT's or Coaches for...
