I was thinking about that too. After glassing my own sub box I think anything is possible now :weld: Seems like with a small relief cut into the plastic mounting surface in the dash, the L3 can be tipped on axis in the same basic location without taking up a footprint much larger than the...
Thanks David! That is a stubby little screwdriver. Guess I am going to home depot after work :)
Did you swap the center speaker as well? That one seems like I will need just a philips tip with no handle.
I am an idiot, that is just too obvious. I must like to over-engineer things. Did you put anything between the speaker and the plastic? how did you get a tool in there to put in screws?
has anyone fabricated an adapter for the L3's? I would like to see a picture or something so I can figure out what I am missing. I made some adapters out of 1/4 mdf, but the ring on my L3SE's overlaps the factory dash screw so I can't actually get the speaker bolted in.
I have not got to it yet but I bought f.a.s.t rings to seal between speaker and inner panel. i've read some good things about them.
here's a guy on youtube who installed some

I have my rear seat out temporarily and I am surprised how much more road noise there is. The louvered vents on the back wall let in a ton of sound. Has anyone come up with a decent way to deaden the noise, short of closing off the vent? The factory rear wall insulation barely does anything...
after glassing your sub box inside the truck, how long did it take for the resin odor to clear?
although, you seem to be in a constant state of construction so maybe that is never :weld:
I build my first fiberglass box this weekend (big assist to all the guys who did this before me and posted tons of useful info). A couple areas under the box did not get enough release wax and left some tape behind in my mold that I can't seem to get off. Any suggestions for removal? I used...
I'd hate to buy the $85 dso nano just for a one-time test. rather put that towards a cheap multimeter with a scope built in. either way, i think the HU needs to be checked. doesn't sound clean to me past 3/4
Has anyone tested to see where/if the factory alpine amp clips? before I hook up my dsp I'd like to know what the safe max volume is. I'd check myself by I don't have an oscope or distortion detector. I've got the 8an "premium" alpine in a '14 Sport CC.
Looks like 10 yards of 1.5oz chop mat (comes in 38" and 50" width, 38" seems like enough) and 1 gallon of polyester resin should do the trick. Thanks guys!
How long does the smell last? Is it only during the curing process?
Hey guys, I want build a box for my truck and I am looking at the materials from US Composites. How much mat and resin did you use on your boxes? How many layers did you end up with? This is for a '14 CC.
