    285/70/17 or 315/70/17?

200 highway miles on them so far. They seem to ride well and don't have much road noise (they seem quieter than the worn out Goodyears, at least). Their construction seems extremely sturdy and they look pretty mean in person. Nothing bad to say about them at this point.

    285/70/17 or 315/70/17?

285/75/17 on factory 17s, stock 1500 Installed some 285/75/17 E rated Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on the factory 17" wheels to replace the factory 265/70 Goodyears. That's a little smaller than a 34x11.5" tire, and these are particularly heavy tires, I think in the neighborhood of 66 lbs apiece. The...

Upper control arms hitting/laying against the coil bucket.

My guess would be that's just too big of a level kit for a 2wd without running into issues. Did you use coil spring spacers? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    V6 3.6L real world MPG

2015 Crew Cab 2WD w/ 3.21 gears 20-21 mpg average commute (mostly highway, some long grades and frequently windy conditions) Best I've ever gotten on a 500 mile tank was about 24.5, hand calculated. 22-24 isn't abnormal on long highway runs. Worst I've ever gotten was about 18. Sent from my...

    5.7 vs 3.0 Review

X2. It's hard to beat the Pentastar for economy, so I'd be really interested in that as well. No premium cost on initial purchase and I'd guess he'd be able to get at least 20-22 mpg on his sorts of driving. The driving experience would be the complete opposite of the Ecodiesel, the Pentastar is...

    Another wheel and tire question

285/70/17 will be close to a 33" or 285/75/17 will be close to a 34". Probably your best bets. Lots of options in 285/70, including some less expensive ones. Fewer options in 285/75, they tend to be a bit pricier but still not too bad compared to anything bigger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2wd Leveling by dropping lower control arm?

I've heard people recommend this method on other models of trucks (namely older Chevy/GMC C1500s). It's pretty much the same suspension set up. I'm not sure how easy it necessarily would be though. I know on my old GMC, getting the frame mounts of the lower control arm into proper position to...

    Wheel size question

If those are the same 17" wheels that are on other trims, I believe a 285/75 would be the biggest you can go before you start rubbing the control arm on the backside of the tire. You'll technically be out of spec for wheel width on that width of tire, but shouldn't be a problem. I have a set of...

    Tradesman Upper bumper

A guy on here had used white Plastidip on that part to color match his white truck. It turned out pretty well. Easy and inexpensive to try, at least.

    285/70/17 or 315/70/17?

Finally picked up the new AT3Ws. Haven't installed them yet. Anyone know if the 285/75/17 (approx 34x11.5) will fit temporarily without a level? Level or small BL is in the works just haven't had the time to do it yet.

    2016 1500 2WD Leveling kit

To level a 2wd, you have two options. Coil spring spacers that sit on top of your factory coil spring, or aftermarket coil springs. Here are two common options, to give you an idea. Daystar KC09103BK Comfort Ride 1.5" Front Coil Spring Spacer Kit - 2 Piece...

    Consumer Reports

I looked at their ratings for new Rams in the issue at my local bookstore. When broken down by category, all categories received a green bubble for "above average" reliability. At the bottom, for overall reliability, Consumer Reports gave them a red bubble for "below average". I'm not sure how...

    Bfg at 34 10.5 17

I'd never seen that size before, but I looked them up, and BAM BFG does make a tire in that size. I'm not running those, but just ordered 285/75/17s (about 34"x11.2"). Nothing to report yet, but I'm sure you'll clear easily with a level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    285/70/17 or 315/70/17?

For an update a long time later, I ordered some Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws in 285/75/17 today (roughly 34x11). It'll be a couple of weeks before I get them mounted up, but I'll report back when I do... Still not much out there on Pentastars with bigger tires, so hopefully this can help someone out...

    Oil life gauge

I normally change mine at about 30% on the gauge, which for my driving (mostly highway) translates to about every 7500 miles. I use regular, non synthetic.

Alignment after coil spacers, how soon?

Obviously the answer to this is "right away" or "asap", but I have a dilemma. I want to add some 1.5" coil spacers to my 2015 2wd. I have them, and I think I'm finally ready to install them. Only issue is the nearest alignment shop is 45 miles away. Would installing them then driving that...

    Hemi to v6

The V6 won't be as much pure joy as the Hemi, but it won't have any problems. Those little Pentastars really do make plenty of power. 305 horsepower with the 8 speed's gearing will get you up that hill as quickly as you want unloaded, and I wouldn't expect any issues with a small trailer either...

    Standard Transmission trucks?

I think these guys nailed it. Offered in limited configurations on Ram 2500/3500, and then offered on the base models of each of the midsize trucks (Colorado / Canyon / Frontier / Tacoma). Frontiers and Tacomas also offer a 6 speed manual/V6 combo on some better optioned configurations.

Not a Lone Star, but my Tradesman Crew Cab 2wd measures 36.5" stock in front. That's with the Pentastar, not sure if Hemis have different springs to compensate for the extra weight.

3.55 Ratio verus 3.21 Difference in Fuel Effic

I have a 4x2 Crew Cab with the 3.21 V6. It has no power issues, as long as you rev it a little this engine has plenty of pickup. I believe the torque curve is mostly flat from 1800 rpm upward. At 70mph I believe I run about 1600-1700 rpm. Cruise set to 77 I should be right about 1900-2000rpm...

Why so much hate on Ford?

Just don't drive an old 4.6. I drive an '08 F150 4x4 with that 4.6 at work and it needs every bit of 5000 rpm to maintain 75 mph up a long hill on the highway. My Pentastar Ram would eat its lunch... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
