    Shorty Headers+ypipe

Just wanted to add that anyone going with shorties and wanting to retain as much low end TQ as possible should follow what Wild one suggested. Remove the restriction at Y-pipe only and leave rest of stock exhaust mid/ Y-pipe. At the very most, 2 1/2" mid/ Y-pipe and 3- 3 1/4" exhaust are as...

    Shorty Headers+ypipe

Well that's Good News then! I've never gotten headers coated for the very reason you stated, but never really Knew if they would last or not. Thanks for verifying that! Good to know things have changed on the wrap and quality of headers as well! Nice that you can still learn something new every...

    Shorty Headers+ypipe

My post sounds like a slam on shorties, it's not meant to be..... The JBA Catward and even the Pacesetter shorties that Moe's carries look decent as long as you are port matched to your cyl's they will both be an upgrade from the stock manifolds, both being 1 5/8"! When I was struggling to...

Not sure what part of N/A you live in but guessing no salt and corrosion on roads that collect in wrap and add a dble whammy to uncoated mild steel headers. I'm glad to hear wrap works somewhere, in my neck of the woods every mild steel header I've ever seen or heard of that got wrapped lived a...

To add a little more clarity to what I posted; You can't beat a properly sized LT header....Period! In Any application! In order of efficiency and performance; 1. Properly designed equal length LT headers for you exact application. So correct diam pipe and Tuned length to Exactly what RPM...

    Shorty Headers+ypipe

Whoever started the shorty vs longtube debate from the very beginning was an Idiot! A header is a Header is a HEADER! There is No debate without talking pipe size vs pipe length. Smaller the pipe ID = lower peak TQ rpm, larger the pipe ID raises the peak TQ higher in the rpm range. Shorter the...

Best fitting/best made shorty headers for Hemi?

If you want better mpg (not sure if possible with shorties) and best driveability throttle response ect, try to stick to no larger than 1 5/8" pipes. Remember, the larger the diam of pipe the more low end you will lose hence the poor throttle response, lost mpg ect. 1 5/8" LT's are the best...

DNA 2WD Ram ebay headers, Confirmed fit on 04 4x4!

Really glad I took the time to figure out what was right for me before stepping forward. Before headers and exhaust you could feel the under gearing from going to the larger 20" wheel combo, albeit mostly at part throttle positions. After headers and exhaust there is enough added low end TQ...

DNA 2WD Ram ebay headers, Confirmed fit on 04 4x4!

Sorry for the crazy Late response! You have to weld in o2 bungs as there are none provided with header kit. I welded mine into the adapters that go from 3" down to 2 1/2" to match my midpipe.

DNA 2WD Ram ebay headers, Confirmed fit on 04 4x4!

Confirmed fit on my 04 Ram 1500 5.7l Hemi Automatic with zero modifications so far. I can run my bare finger in every port and smooth, no weld splatter to clean up or rough edges and port matching or anything to do, which is amazing to me. (every set of headers I've had I've always had to...

DNA 2WD Ram ebay headers, Confirmed fit on 04 4x4!

BTW, I showed the worst bends in those last pics. Port match and flange accuracy; The flange matches the head and port as perfectly as I could ever imagine. all bolts wind in with zero issues and gasket is made slightly larger than factory gasket. about 3/16" larger than port, and that's just...

DNA 2WD Ram ebay headers, Confirmed fit on 04 4x4!

Decided to start a new thread with proper title so easy find for those looking. For those who don't know me, I've been looking into headers for the Ram for quite some time now. For my build and purposes all of my research lead to the original MP 1 5/8" headers being the best header I could get...

    NOS 04 Ram 4 x 4 build

Cpl pics but more to come tomorrow. Was surprised to see just how rusty the exhaust manis and bolts were on this ol girl given only 120,000kms now. Was a little concerned about the stories I'd read about breaking bolts. I sprayed them all down in Kroil but I think the trick is I took my time...

    NOS 04 Ram 4 x 4 build

Update; Been buying all the parts for my upgrades over the past year and a half. Finally have a lift to use for the next week or so. Going to try to get everything done over that time and will update as things go together. First up, DNA SS 1 5/8" 2WD headers. Will they fit an 04 4x4!!????

    Who's running these headers?

Update; I couldn't find a better header for the Ram, so I took a chance and bought a set of these DNA headers, hoping they would fit my 4 x 4, since they are only listed for 2WD and company could not confirm whether they would work or not. Bottom line, there is Nothing out there at any price...

    Long or short tube headers?

Idle to 2500 you'd want a 1 5/8" LT set of headers. They will give the best scavenging below 4000rpm without hurting the upper rpms too much. You'd need a 1 1/2" set of shorties to get in the same ballpark, but the 1 5/8" LT's would still be better.

Do you trust the oil change indicator, or change early?

Figuring the correct oil change interval has always been common sense to me. With a properly functioning mtr, no leaks and everything working correctly, if you ever have to add oil from the length of your interval then you've gone to far. (oil is broken down and mixing/ burning with fuel) So...

    Shorties / LTs

Cool, so the more heat cycles from full warm to full cool the faster the ceramic will cure and no more smell. Also keep in mind, while the 1 5/8" pipes will retain stock like or better low end Tork, your greatest gain will still be mid to top end because it's a Shorty header. Further exhaust...

    Shorties / LTs

Did you do the heat cycle break in for the ceramic coating? Fire it up and idle only, full warm. Then shut down and let cool off completely and repeat? Then light normal stop and go driving, shut it down, cool off completely ect? If you do the heat cycle break in by the time you test full...
