I have service manuals for 06-08. Interestingly, the only one that includes the NV246 transfer case is the 2008 manual. I have a 2007 Laramie with 5.7L and NV246 TC.
PM me and I'll be glad to send you what I have.
Also, you mention your switch has 5-positions. Mine is 4 rotary knob positions plus neutral which is a tiny momentary switch that is in the lower left of the switch front. I assume that is what you mean by 5?
I can offer the diagnostics for the switch from the 2008 service manual if that may be of any help. I have the NV 246 transfer case (made by New Venture for GM as I understand it). I am currently trying to troubleshoot my 4WD system and believe I have confirmed that I have a bad TC shift...
Thank you for the excellent suggestion. I have opened the TIPM box when tracing wires to the TC motor connector. But I did not spend a lot of time beyond understanding the various connectors on the back of the unit so I could identify the one that connects to the TC. When you mention the CAN...
I assume you have checked the ground connection between the cab and the bed? On my 2007, I have had to lift up the bed to get to the evap hoses near the gas tank that are regularly chewed by mice and squirrels. I have also had mice camp in the engine bay and chew on three of my cars during the...
Any luck getting things to work? I am also trying to troubleshoot my 2007 4WD. I have an electronic service manual for the 2008 truck. Let me know if you may still need something from it or I could send you the whole thing.
Have you been able to figure out what your problem is?
I have a 2007 1500 Laramie 4WD with 5.7L. 150K miles. I have not had 4WD since 2022 and finally had time to begin troubleshooting it again this past weekend. I have replaced both the front actuator and the TC Motor over the years...
I would say it is likely the starter. My 2007 hemi has 150K. The starter gave up on Christmas Eve two years ago. It had about 142K miles then (not driven much during covid). It was straining at startup and I knew something was brewing but thought I could ignore until after the holidays. Not...
2007 RAM 1500 Laramie with 5.7L Hemi, 123,500 miles
When trying to switch into 4WD Auto (or any other mode) it would only give me the fast flashing indicator and would not go into the mode.
Researched and determined I probably had to replace the actuator and then get a re-flash from...
Thanks. I kind of was leaning toward just keeping an eye on it. It is really minimal. Looks like about a thimble full of fluid has slipped out a couple years. Hardly worth replacing a seal over I would say.
I have a 2007 Laramie with about 82K. It has the NV246 GM transfer case. Whlie changing the fluid in the case, I noticed that there appears to be evidence of a "spray" of oil radiating from the rear of the case where the rear drive shaft is inserted into the transfer case. I have never seen...
Great thread and great info.
2 Questions:
1. My 07 Laramie has a breather hose attached to the front differential? What is that about?
2. I have a fluid extractor that connects to my air compressor. Any reason not to use that for diff fluid changes? I understand the need to...
