This was done on my 07 5.9 with the 48RE transmission, but is very similar across the board with whatever engine/trans combo you have

This was all really easy, just a PITA

You will need:
AFE Power Dodge Transmission Pan 46-7005X
48RE Hard Plastic Transmission Gasket from Dodge
About 11 Quarts of ATF+4 Transmission Fluid
1/2 Socket
3/8 Ratchet
T-25 Torx Head Socket
Hex Head Socket (don't remember size)
Flathead Screwdriver
Thread Lock Tape

The pan comes with just about everything. It had new bolts for the pan, a drop bracket for the filter and a new filter as well. You should purchase a hard plastic gasket from the Dealership instead of using the rubber one it comes with.

Here is the kit

I bought 2 gallons of ATF+4 at the dealership while I was there and 3 extra quarts from Autozone just to make sure I had enough

It came with a very detailed instruction manual but I will give you a first hand install.
I did all the stuff needed for the pan first. It comes with a drain plug and a plug for the temperature tap hole. I put thread lock tape around both to make sure they sealed properly and installed them onto the pan

I also put together the filter drop bracket so that I could just throw it on once it was time

I then pulled and drained my factory pan trying to not make a mess (yea right). You will need a 1/2in socket for this

Here was my mess

My phone deleted the pictures so I will just hafta describe the next steps

I took a T-25 socket to remove the bolts holding the filter in place and removed it, replacing it with my new dropped filter using the proved bolts and a flathead screwdriver.

Then I just put the new deep pan on with the provided bolts and the hard plastic gasket I got from the dealership and hand torqued them down as to not crack the gasket.

It takes a Hex head socket, I just don't remember the size.

From there it was as easy as filling the transmission back up, which ended up being about 11 full quarts of fluid.

Make sure you check your fluid level while the truck is in Neutral and enjoy!

Here is a tip that might save some people a few bucks. The Advance Auto Parts ATF+4 is blended by Ashland (Valvoline) and packaged into Advance Auto Parts labeled bottles by their contract packagers.

Sweet, good tip, lol.

I got my Mopar gallons for about $25 a piece which was cheaper than I could get anywhere else.
I would not have got the Valvoline stuff if it weren't for my discount at work

Yeah, the oil plant I work for is one of three Advance contract packaging facilities. Thats how Advance gets their Chrysler certification for ATF+4, they piggy pack Ashlands for a fee.

I just put ATF+4 in it this time, because I figure it's going to be broken open again sometime soon again for my Trans build and I will have Amsoil put in then
