I finally had my gears changed out! I ditched my open diff w/ 3.55:shooter: for 4.56 and a Detroit TrueTrac! Man what a difference in acceleration and MPG's with my trail grapplers! only 130 more miles to left until break in period is over!

What's your mileage looking like before and after?

He's got an '09. Those are easy.
Just need gears, carrier (TrueTrac) and a master install kit.

It's the 11+s that are trickly.

I'm glad to hear you're having a good experience with the 4.56s.
I am not in love with my 3.73s and I have 30" tires!
Once I put on man sized tires, I'll be up **** creek.

^^^ Oops, forgot about that.

It's us 2011+ guys that had our gear lives complicated by Ram.

Somewhat. You just need '10 and prior gears, and get them drilled to accept the 11+ carrier. No Tru-Trac for you, but the factory posi unit ain't bad at all.

The actual install would be no different, take all the parts to a shop and walk away. :Big Laugh:

Y'all have no idea how hard it is for me not to just smash the pedal to the floor! And it still has a trinity t-1000 91 canned tuen on it! I'm pretty sure after I get through the break in period I'm going to get a hemifever tune

Add that HF and you will be ******** tire lugs everywhere! haha. My older brother has a '14 Sierra that the dealer put a lift and tires on. Wasn't too bad for a 5.3L and stock 3.42 gears on 35's. He initially got some 4.56 Motive gears and Detroit TT and had whining problems with the gears. He traded them out for some Yukon 4.56 and no problems at all. Thing pulls hard now. I was quite surprised.

I'm ready for 4.56s to be available for the 13s! I don't want to have to swap my axle just to get the gears.

Congrats, In guess I really should consider this on my 2010. I got a quote for 2800 for a dana 44 solid axle swap and he quoted me 750 per axle for the gears.

The break-in is the hardest part of a gear swap. The cost and the work is nothing compared to driving for 500 miles like you are in a Prius!

I am 120 miles away from pedal mashing! Hang in there! :)

That was said perfectly 012RAMbo! Having the 4.56s would this help me out if I get stuck in mud or sand with the new found torque? Should I run 4wd for a little bit before I actually 4 wheeling

If you do a gear swap on a 4x4, at least from my understanding, you have to drive in 4 high during your break in duration. That way both sets of gears get broken in. I have a buddy that had to do this with his Wrangler when he got 4.88s.

What about driving it while on dry pavement?
