Hi. New here. Been scouring the forums for a solution to my exact problem To no avail.
the truck is a 2011 ram 2500 diesel with a column shifter. The shift lever solenoid will not release on its own when I step on the brake pedal. the only way I can shift it out of park is if I use the emergency override tab.
here is what I’ve tried:
1. Checked brake switch, replaced with brand new one. Brake lights work
2. replaced the shift lock solenoid
3. checked all fuses
4. checked all wiring connectors as far as I could follow and everything is connected as far as I could see
The key also does not stay in ignition when the truck is running, can start and stop the truck with a screwdriver. Could this be the problem?
please help with any solutions you may have that do not include what I listed above, or using the override tab. I will be eternally grateful!
thanks
