Is 2023 Ram 1500 Classic the final model year? So far, no word for 2024 model year yet. It's currently on its 5th year of the Classic production. Normally, number "5" or "5th year" is the stop number. It would look weird if there will be "year 6" of the Classic production, since 2019, or 2009 beginning of this design. Plus, the UAW strike may worsen and increase its risk greatly that the Classic is discontinued and gone for good. What do you think?

The design cycle years don't really apply to the Classic as it really hasn't changed since 2016.
Given the electric truck is supposed to be released during 2024, it doesn't look good for the Classic. It maybe still available for fleet orders as most of the sheet metal is still in use by the HD trucks.
Goto a dealership and ask if you can order a 2024 Classic, They wouldn't have means to order one if the plan of production is stopped.

Most thought 2019 was going to be the last yr... then 2020 and so on.

Word is the Lightning isn't selling 'great'. Unless that's changed recently. So it would seem that Chrysler might (hopefully) take a measured approach shuffling the rest of their line before the Electric Ram comes out. The reasons people buy a 4th gen are the opposite for reasons why buyers pay a lot more for an electric pickup. And 4th gen buyers on this forum, many have owned multiple 4th gens. I doubt hardly any 4th gen Ram buyers would go out and buy an electric pickup. Chrysler would be pushing buyers to competitors, or maybe some to 5th gen trucks (more expensive). Also they don't have 5th gen RC trucks (yet).

Yes, and here's the #1 biggest news that is not spread online well to news yet. Ram 1500 Classic is now rated #1 in pickup truck reliability verdict.

For the first time ever in history, Ram 1500 is rated more reliable than Toyota Tundra by Consumer Reports, which should be a shocking news to everyone. It's a no surprise at all, given that it's a 15 year old very-mature design now, and the 3.6L V6 Pentastar is still non-turbo and last pickup truck with fuel-injection only (not direct-injection). New Toyota Tundra is now a twin-turbo 3.4L V6 with direct-injection.

I get the impression that if you buy a new 2023 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman (base) today, reliability is identical to Toyota Camry and Honda Accord by Consumer Reports, and you don't need to go Japanese anymore.

Toyota brass was leery of entering the full-size market back in the day, was promised they'd dominate the field and large volumes, none of which materialized. The full-sized has tremendously under-performed by Toyota's high-volume standards. The original Tundra wasn't quite full-size, didn't have the engine, didn't seem to understand full-size american buyers, and other blunders. The low volume is almost an embarrasment to Toyota. For years they didn't make many updates or improvements until recently. Pretty much the same with Nissan only worse.

That doesn't mean they're not good. They're up there in quality, size, hp of the big-3 now. Honestly I think they're both good trucks and having owned several Toyota smaller pickups, and worked on them, you get a lot of hidden 'beef' and premium design/build with Toyotas (and Nissans) which many owners never realize unless they service or take them apart and really look at how they're put together. If a guy were going to "own a truck for life" ...a Tundra would be a great choice. Course a 4th gen ram would be even better IMO!

Knowing Toyota was coming to town forced the big-3 to re-think & up their full-size tk game which gave us all a better product. Glad to hear Ram 4th gens are rated high. Like you say, it shows how improving a pickup pays off. That's kind of what Toyota has always done. Of course thats kind of embarrasing for the 5th gens...

UPDATE:

2024 Ram 1500 Classic remains available, but only with quad-cab only. The regular-cab and crew-cab are discontinued, meaning 2023 was the final model year for these two cabs.

"According to reports, cab choices are narrowed for 2024. The 2023 Classic comes in either Tradesman or Warlock trims, the Tradesman available in Regular Cab, Quad Cab, or Crew Cab forms and three bed lengths, the Warlock as either a Quad Cab or Crew Cab, each with its own bed length. For 2024, the Regular and Crew quarters are kaput, leaving the Quad Cab with rear half-doors as the only option. On both trims in 2023, the Quad Cab is only paired with the 6-foot-4-inch bed, so buyers in 2024 are likely locked into that cargo area as well. Engine choices don't change, the 3.6-liter V6 making 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque, the 5.7-liter V8 putting out 395 hp and 410 lb-ft. Both shift through an eight-speed automatic."

I'd venture to guess that 2024 will be the end then. Likely a new cab for the HD models as well, finally.

The current HD models will still have the RC and CC options while the Classic will finish up production of the QC parts.

SLT Crew 4x2 5'7 V6 or V8 WARLOCK ONLY
SLT QUAD 4x4 6'4 V6 or V8 WARLOCK ONLY
SLT Crew 4x2 6'4 V6 or V8 WARLOCK ONLY

TRADESMAN Crew 4x2 5'7 Only, V6 or V8
TRADESMAN Quad 4x4 6'4 V6 or V8
TRADESMAN Quad 4x2 6'4 V6 or V8

Attaching the code guides here for the folks that really like to dig deep on the details - also of course the RAM consumer facing site will still just show 2023 for now, and even when updated may not reflect what's ACTUALLY available to produce. Even the code guides may show configurations that are not available for ordering, but we can cross those bridgse as they arise.

While we advertise dealer discount 11.5%-12.5% on most DT trims, we'll price these DS models case by case - should land in that same general range I just haven't done enough of them to get a running average.

one we placed recently was ordered on Jan 4th, and last week was assigned a build date of 2/13. transport on these can take a little while though!
