5.7 hemi vs silverado v8.

So my buddy has a 2005 silverado with an aftermarket exhaust. He wants to race my hemi. I told him ok but loser fills winners tank. Race is set for next week. I have an 04 hemi 1500 stock. 1/4 mile. I'm worried my speed limit will make me lose. Any thoughts?

If you have a good tuner, you could raise your max. speed, but DO NOT raise it past the max. speed rating of your tires. This could be dangerous as you risk a tire blowout.

You shouldn't have a problem with that old 5.3. And I don't believe you will get close enough to your speed limiter in a 1/4 for that part to matter

Your 2008 Hemi is rated at 345hp at the crank. Accounting for 15% drivetrain loss 293hp is probably getting to your wheels.

The 4.8L Chevy V8 produces 302hp, the 5.3L 315hp and the 6.0L 367hp.

The newer trucks have a 6.2L v8 option that offers 403hp. Most folks end up with the 5.3L though.

You should bet it vs 5.3L, vs a 6.0L it will be much closer, depending on gears and tires.

Turn off your OD and practice your launches until comfortable and smooth. I like launching with the gear lever in 2nd and then wind it to your shift point. Stock your rev limiter is 5850 and you don't want to hit it. Piece of cake...

Buy a SC3865 and get the rev limiter out of the way....

the 5.3 only offered 285 hp until it was refreshed in the 07 body style change, so an 05 would be even easier. Same with the others, I don't remember the 4.8 but the early 6.0 in most trucks was only 305 hp and 336 hp in the SS silverado and trailblazer.

That's an easy race either way, my stock 06 beat many a silverado including several newer 2010+ 5.3 trucks with 3.73 gears and a couple 6.0s. Once I did the tune and trans goodies, I beat a brand new 13 model 6.2 by a nose. I got him off the jump and he was pulling on me around 90 mph, he hit his limiter before he passed me though.

Are you asking if the Mustang will beat you? Cause that answer is it will smoke you. If you're asking if it can tow more than you, obviously not, its a mustang. It's not built to tow anything even with its HP/TQ numbers
