Bad: Gas mileage. Utterly terrible.

Good: Everything else. Owned everything under the sun, nothing compares to this truck. Simply amazing.

Agree 100% with this. This is the first truck I've had since the '78 I had in high school (in the late '90s), but I've had I wide range of cars and SUVs since then and love this truck. I came from an Audi Q7 and hands down love this truck more.

Mid grade is in your manual those of you who own a PW with a 6.4l
Octane is misunderstood all the time.
Higher elevations need less. That is why 91/89/85 in Colorado as where at closer to sea level we get 93/91/87

our PW will not benefit much for 93 as most of us have factory tunes and we all have a lower compression ratio.
the same high performance 6.4l in the track hawk or the r/t has to run on 93 but pumps out 475 hp with out a blower...
Get your truck tuned and speed up the timing and 93 will be necessary. our computer in our trucks can retard timing to compensate for the lower octane but you are not doing yourself any favors.
read your manual if you don’t believe me.

(the 6.4L 485hp only comes in the scatpack option runs midgrade 89 octane, the R/T is a 5.7L 375hp. The Track Hawk is a 6.2L Hellcat engine using 92/93 octane 707hp prior to 2019 now it is 717hp) Oregon/Washington we usually only get 87/89/92 grades unless you can find the oddball places that will have 93.

Thanks for clarifying. The scat pack is the engine I was trying to compare to. The one I test drove had premium on the gas door. I want the 485hp it is putting out, without getting too crazy with engine mods if possible.

Seriously???? I've always been pretty impressed with the mileage on my 2500 ('16 Tradesman crew cab 4x4 6.4L 4.10s). I get about 12 around town. I have managed 18-19 mpg loaded up on long camping trips. I think that's pretty darned good for a 3/4 ton truck. I had a 2000 SuperDuty before that got worse mileage, tho not hugely so... would get about 10-11 around town & a best of 16 mpg on the highway with the V10 SuperCab 4x4.

I have the same truck and got similar mileage till I put 35s under it. Same 12-13 around town but not much more than 16-17 highway since then. Also I don't go over 70 or it takes a dive.
In contrast my 2015 F150 4x4 ecoboost work truck is showing 18.5 ave. I roll that one down the road a little faster.
FWIW, these are computer numbers, not hand calculations.

Yep- last time I checked my mileage the evic showed 18.2 and actual mileage was 16.96 I come from the days when you thought you were really doing well to get 12 mpg on the highway. Our mileage now seems really good comparatively.

My 99 1500 quad cab 4x4 with 5.7 didn't get much better either. I have said it many times, the PW is the coolest vehicle I've ever owned. Been driving a long time.

Gotta save some money for ammo and beer though! Maybe a little food......

I wish I knew how much I would want a front camera with a lifted PW.
That hood is freaking huge, I can't see a thing that's in front of it.

Have you played around with your front camera yet?
While driving down the freeway you can view any camera. It doesn’t have to be in 4low ( like on the Raptor) or in reverse.

edit: I just read your profile and see you have an 18 not a 19. Sorry

the power wagons simply dont get as good of mileage. Not really sure why, considering drivetrain wise they are basically the same. Not sure if its the added height, knobby tires, added weight etc... but i habe 36k miles on mine now and still have never gotten better than 13.5 MPG. Usually around 11.5-12.5

Same here! And here I am with a full Thuren King 2.5 lift, 37’s, tire carrier, AEV bumper, and a dumpster full of “smaller” mods that weren’t cheap by any means. Sometimes I think that the gas is the cheapest thing I put in this truck!

It's like ***** shooting. The cheapest thing you pay for is the 10K gun!
Trust me I'm living both dreams!

Never thought I would pay more than $500 bucks for a shotgun.

PW upgrades are spendy but once you are in the game it's small change.

Luv my truck!
