Hello All,

I just bought a 2500 tradesman with an 8 ft utility body. I am removing that and putting a bed back on it. Does anyone know if I will need to replace the bed wiring harness to have locks for the tailgate?

You might if the previous owner modified the wiring harness when they put the utility bed on the truck. We really can't know for sure if you will need to replace any wiring or not. It all depends on what was done at that time.

Yeah, I think you're right. I kind of thought the back half would clip into a cab section, but looking at a few pictures it looks like the harness is solid until it gets to the taillight harness.

Just occured to me the take off bed should still have that light harness in it.

Once I've got the two mated, I'll come back with specific questions.

Did the truck originally come with a bed?
Or was it a cab and chassis with the utility body installed?
Also, would a tradesman have power tailgate lock originaly?
