1st time ever for me running this tires. I found a set fairly cheap for my Silverado in 285/70/17, P rated, on sale from Discout tires, I thought they rode great, zero noise, outstanding rain traction, and that was more than welcome since the truck is 2wd with the factory G80 locker, so the need to repalce the tires in the RAM came up, and i thought of replacing the factory size tires i had in my RAM with a another Falken set.

I went with 315/70/17 E rated this time, as the RAM is 4x4, and as i do offroad the truck, i wanted a stronger sidewall compared to the P rated version, and while the AT3W's don't have 3 plies in the E rated version, the 2 plies are very thick, so sidewall punctures won't be much of an issue, the tire is heavy, and the part of that weight is because the thick sidewalls , I had a Jeep before the truck, and offraoded with people that had the tire, no problems running the rocky sections of our Socal trails with this tires, and that's how i know they perform great in dirt/rocks rain and snow, so i trust sidewall strenght wont be an issue.

I measure the thread at 19/32 for the 315/70/17 E rated, 13/32 for the 285/70/17 P rated, brand new

I have about 5k miles in the E rated ones, thread is down to 18/32, all 4 corners wearing down the same, running 36 PSI in them, used chalk to determine best contact patch. Surprisngly the P Rated nes in my other truck are wearing down more in the back, currently at 10/32, while the fronts are at 12/32, running 40PSI, I need t check with my tire shop how many miles i have in those, Wife is the one running that truck, and i don't think she had done a tire rotation first :), so i need to take care of that truck next.

I think there is difference in tire compound between their P and E rated tire because of the way the P are wearing down, but i'll know more about that once i can confirm the miles i have on the P rated ones. i'm keeping track of the ones in my RAM, but have failed to keep track of the ones in Silverado as i rarely drive that one myself.

I'll be updating this thread every 5k miles or so as i rotate the tires, and post how god/bad they wear down and how long they'l last. I have a set of 5 tires in the RAM, so i'll be doing a 5 tire rotation in this one.

This are the 315/70/17 E rsted.

Miles: 5K

Thanks for the review, I am getting my set of the Falken AT3W 285/65/20 E's installed Tuesday along with a leveling kit.

Picked up the truck this morning. Surprisingly quiet ride at 60mph. They look good too:

I haven't reached the 10k miles mark just yet, did the 1st rotation at 5k, but wanted to update the thread as the tires have become little noisy with miles, not super loud, but they're not quiet like new for sure, i'm prob around 7-8k miles, wearing down evenly front/rear, haven't noticed any issues in this regard, still running them at 36 PSI and that will be their permanent PSI setting in my truck.

Traction in the rain is outstanding, had the chance to test them out during our recent rainstorms , i have to give the truck gas on purpose to overpower the tires when raining from a deadstop, the tires seem to be very resilient to hydroplaning when going through big water puddles and i like that, will see how the traction in the rain remains as the tires age with miles, but so far so good.

Dirt and soft sand are on par with other AT tires, excellent traction and control when slidding around the trail with some speed, they're weak on mud as expected, you can see here how wet dirt will build up, though they clean out nicely if you give the tire some throttle to shake up this crap, not expecting this things to move out very well on slicky mud anyways, i avoid mud like the plague, though sometimes there is not escape to it, i try to go around mud as much as i can.

Will have them in the snow in a couple of weeks and see how they'll behave,i'm expecting excellent manners in this department as well, rain and snow were the main drivers in my choice, asides from price, and so far, the AT3W's are delivering just fine.

Had my Falken's out in the snow this weekend and week. Even with only 8/32 of the tread they did great. No slipping (unless I wanted to.) Even drove around in 2wd for a while to see how the tires did. No problems. With about 14 inches of snow on the ground Sunday I drove 60 miles to work with no problems.
Was going to replace with something else when these wore out. That was due to having only 6-8/32 of thread on front tires after only 30K miles on them but for the price I think I will get some more.

I had a set of these on my 2014 blackout and they looked and road amazing. Never had a problem with PSI or noise. I had them both in south Florida and tons of rain and then for one winter in WV with a good bit of snow. I had to switch for a 4x4 because of the mountains and when I need some new tires they're what I'm going to go with.

Wanted to update the thread as i did the tire rotation today at 77331 miles. 14k miles on the tires now and they're wearing down fairly well.

4 of them are down to 16/32 even from their 19/32 brand new , 5th one is at 17/32 as i introduced that one down in the rotation at 5k miles, so they're wearing consistantly at the moment 1/32 every 5k miles, that's even offroading the truck every other week or so. Still running them at 36psi and have no reasons to change that.

No issues so far, noise hasn't increased, still little noisy compared to other AT tires i've had, but nothing to complaint about. I have rubbed their sidewalls against the rocks and now i have a cut in one of them and a little sidewall chunk out in another one, but that's why i wanted strong sidewall tires anyways though these are 2 ply but on the heavy side.

Asides from that, will continue to run them and update the thread in the next 10k miles unless something comes first.

Wanted to update the thread as my other truck will need new tires soon. Brand new the P rated AT3W 285/70/17 were 13/32, 25k miles later and they're now 7/32 front and 6/32 rear. I'll be replacing that set with something else LT rated.

I’ve had my eyes on Terra Grappler G2s for quite some time, but due to price and the amount of positive road manner reviews I’m seriously considering these. The tread means business and sidewall isn’t over the top rock crawler wannabe like some other hybrid AT/MT options.

I don’t think they’ll compete with Nitto‘s dry traction and tread life however. 80/20 road/snow&mud so seeking 116 for weight savings that currently isn’t offered.
