i have the infinity stereo in my truck and i have replaced the head unit to a JVC avd-64bt and when i had installed it i took the factory amp out and ran the speakers direct off the head unit and not i have the amp in the truck at all. but now all my speakers get distortion as soon as a turn the volume up past 12. i was told it is not the speakers and that the infinity speakers in the truck are top of the line. what could it be? how can i fix it?

The infinity speakers are designed to work with the Infinity amp. Most likely what is happening is your new stereo puts out too much power for them to be able to handle. If I were you I would change the speakers out to some with at least 25-50 watts rms handling ability. I decided to look up the specs of your new head unit and it outputs 20 watts RMS per channel. Too much for the infinity speakers to handle.

any speaker pair up must match the output of the head unit/amp. At 20 watts you're under powered at the new speakers.......You need to amp up or get speakers to match the 20 watts per channel from your head unit. I put together some good sounding systems just by matching up wattages...ohms are equally important.....most after market speakers use the same ohm rating so it's less of an issue.....but matching the wattage is critical........a 100 watt unit puts out 25 watts a channel tying rear and fronts together puts 50 watts at one speaker.

The speakers in the dash do take the brunt of the high and midrange leaving the bass for the side doors.....Hope it helps.
