Jumping RPM's

I'm new here so, hopefully someone can help me.
My engine light on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 (5.2- 4X4 ) came on and I checked the code (P1740) I looked it up and it says "TCC or OD Solenoid Performance" My Tachometer needle jumps and I'm eating more gas than usual. What do I need to change in the trany? I watched a video on how to change the solenoid but it got me confused with 3 different thing to do with the solenoid! What does it look like?

That would be the Overdrive Governor pressure solenoid in the pan that needs to be replaced. Sounds as if it's making your transmission drop in and out of overdrive, which is not good for it.

@ 1:58 you can see a bright silver cylinder with a darker circle in the middle and a white plug coming out of it. That is the governor pressure solenoid. Very informative video too.

I got the same code. Replaced the solenoid and sensor and it fixed the shift probs I had but still got the code. This is a good list for you to look at if it persists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvl-_-vY6rk

Thank you for the information on the O.D. Gov. Solenoid! I'm gonna try to get the part and replace it and let you all know how it goes!!
