I purchased the Mishimoto Trans bypass valve for my 2017 5.7L 6 speed. I was under the impression it was supposed to cool the trans temps by like 20 to 30 degrees. I removed the thermostat and installed the bypass valve per the instructions. My truck trans now runs maybe 10 degrees cooler. I guess maybe my trans never ran "hot" maybe 180 running down the highway. But sitting at idle in the summer it gets around 190 200 sometimes.

I installed the part on the right- the bypass valve right?

Am i missing something?

Yes it has a 6 speed - Canadian truck. Express poor mans package.
Trans fluid changed maybe 10k miles ago. And it had been previously changed before that. Truck has 82k miles. Changed Fluid to Redline C+ ATF.

Mine runs at 167 even when towing 10k uphill. The only time it climbs any higher is sitting idling and that is without the bypass. My understanding is that the bypass is to prevent the OEM thermostat from sticking and causing high temp damage to the trans

Yours is the cummins. I forgot to mention mine is 5.7l with the 6 speed.

Oh, I'm sorry i should have seen that in your tag. That's my bad. I would assume the idea of it is still the same however the temps are vastly different
