Need new motor

Hey guys. I hydrolocked my truck. 2007 quad cab 5.7 hemi 4x4. I'm looking for a motor to swap in and found two.

#1 2006 5.7 out of a 2500 reg can 2wd

#2 2005 5.7 out of a Cherokee.

I understand I have mds, however I don't want to use it. I know the 2500 motor doesn't have mds. Can I just but a programmer and turn it off?

Is the Cherokee motor a straight swap?

Yes and yes. The 2500 motor will work and you could probably just leave the MDS part of your harness disconnected. It won't have an EGR valve either.
The Cherokee motor would be a direct swap.

i had no idea about the cherokee! thanks so much. i just noticed the valve covers were different.

Its the same block. Looking at some pics I see the the accessories and belt routing is different, also the intake. I would check into how easy it would be to change everything over. Maybe the 2500 motor would beore straight forward.
