Hey guys, I emailed Sean yesterday but haven't heard back yet and I need an answer. I'm picking up a trailer tomorrow and travelling about 1300 kms with it in thr next couple days. It's 4000 lbs overall.
Will I need to drop the tune down to 89 octane tune if I plan on using 91 octane fuel? Currently I have the Hemifever 91 octane tune on the truck but the fuel station I just filled at only had 93 so I used that.

On a side note: man is gas ever cheap in Ohio! I put 100.4 liters of 93 octane in for $96! Back home in Canada, 91 octane would have run me $140! Must be nice!

When in doubt, go back to your stock tune. When I was running a tune on my Ecoboost, unless the tune was designed for towing and at a specific octane, damage could occur. Not worth the risk.

I pulled my camper (probably 8000#) up and down hills for four hours the other day with 93 Hemifever tune with no issues. Trans temps stayed cool and oil and coolant temps did too.

Sean confirmed with me that towing using his 89 tune is safe.
I wouldn't drop down to stock tune.

So do you think that towing with his 91 tune is also safe? Thanks for the info everyone!

Diablo changes nothing in there canned tunes for part throttle timing. And most tuners don't either.
Well Sean said that his tunes were good for towing. I doubt highly that he'd lie about that and risk a customer toasting their engine! That's would be bad for business!

You read me wrong. I mean your timing is probably stock for part throttle with Sean's tune and why it has no issues towing. Diablo has the same timing for the part throttle spark in all octane levels.
Ohh yes I did read it wrong! Lol
