The payload numbers include the driver.

Where would you find that ??

Cuz I have been told it does include the driver, that it doesn't, that it is with a full tank of fuel, that it is with an empty tank of fuel............

Point being, the 1600 lb payload isn't just for what you put in the bed of the truck.

I read it somewhere but I can't find it again. I do know according to ram's website the payload of my truck is 13xx lbs. According to my door sticker it is 11xx lbs. So I don't know where the difference is but how can a half ton truck only be rated for just over 1000 lbs? Gm and Ford have been well above that all along!

What are you driving ??

I got a 1500 loaded crew cab 4x4 laramie, and my payload is 1610 per the manual, and 1161 per the door..........wow........never checked the door to see, that's a big difference.

2013 outdoorsman, 4x4 hemi crew cab 6'4" box. I don't have heated seats or upgraded stero either that would take up more weight, just the 8.4 radio...

We got the same payload by the doors stickers tho, and mine has a lot more stuff on it.....

I never figured out how they determine that stuff....sometimes, I think they just guess

The actual equation is gvwr minus curb weight, but that gives you a different number of course.

I own a 1993 Shadow Cruiser slide-in camper on my 2014 Ram 1500 Tradesman. Weighs 1100 pounds loaded. Sleeps 3-4.

the biggest trick of the slide in truck campers in center of gravity. the ram website has all the info you need. the camper COG has to be within a specific distance of the rear axle center line. if the camper does not exceed the truck's in-bed cargo capacity and the COG is within limit... it "should" haul it fine.

any slide-in with a pop-up roof will be better on the 1500 chassis.

then its up to real world driving.

as long as you have E rated tires with some heavy duty rear coil springs you'll be fine..

I was never in the market for a slide in camper but get this. I have a 2014 3500 dual rear wheel 1 ton truck. There is a sticker or sheet of paper that came with the owners manual that specifically stated that I could not load a slide in camper in my truck. WTF????

You probably have snow plow prep. Which they take that certificate away for.
