So, I have a question... if we remove the windshield wiper cowl there is something that appears to be a hole or empty space covered by a deadening material on the right side of the cowl after you remove the plastic cover. I dont know what this is for? I was kind of surprised to see something...
@TXCOMT, my truck did not come with the Alpine package. But I have tried one at the dealership just for about 15 minutes... So i did not do any extensive testing with the alpine setup, but I would say the kicker speakers are better in clarity. However like I said earlier, you can only push so...
So I got the 77kick28ab now. by the way I was told the part number was updated and its now called 82215414. 2-6x9 speaker for front door and 2-dash tweeters with crossover built-in on the back of them.
So now finally everything is more balanced. Sounds much better. Sound from the new tweeters...
So, Further playing around with the dash speakers in the 77kick42 package convinced me to return them and order 77kick28ab. I used a breadboard just for the testing rather than soldering stuff on to the speakers itself. I tired a 3.9 ohm 2 Watt resistor inline with the positive side of the dash...
@HEMI_finn, Sadly it is becoming too much work for something that was suppose to be a plug and play upgrade. I am disappointed in FCA, in Mopar and in Ram brand for having wrong and misleading information on their genuine website and cause me to order the wrong part for my truck.
When I enter...
@PowrRam, What I found is putting a .mp3/.wav file from my computer onto a USB stick and then playing from that USB stick in the truck has louder volumes. however I have a mix collection of bit rates on that USB collected over the years. Some of my older songs are just 128kbps and some are 320...
@dlynch5412, I am not 100% sure what the uconnect version is for mine. I believe it is the 3.0? I have the 8.4Ra3 I think or something like that. 8.4 uconnect with 6 regular non-amplified speakers.
I did not use a multichannel amplifer for the speakers. They are powered straight from the head...
@Graygoose, Thank You for the tip. I just googled that amp and it does look like it would be a nice addition to my system. I will do more research on it and see if I can buy it at a local store so I would have the option to return or exchange easily as compared to an online order which is how I...
@EagleChief In my opinion these kickers have the sound quality I was looking for. However, the dash speakers are the tricky part in this truck. If a person has a truck without the alpine audio... then the dash should be 8 ohms, but it was really hard for me to find 3.5" 8 ohm speakers...
@BiGMERF, I think having the door speakers amplified would make a difference atleast in clarity at higher volumes. I am not sure if the output transistors in the head unit is saturating and that is why there is distortion or the speakers are? I am not convinced its the speakers though, its more...
@RedSRT4Me, the 10 inch sub doesn't really vibrate anything actually. what creates vibrations is the harmonics from the door speakers. Even though I applied the hell out of those sound dampening material to the doors they still rattle at certain frequencies in the song.
I have had aftermarket...
Hello everyone, and here is what I have done in my truck;
I finally installed the 77kick42 for front, 77kick41 in rear door and 77kick44 (Sub) under the rear seat.
What I found was the 77kick42 package with 6x9" doors and 3.5" dash does work pretty well with my truck without the Alpine audio...
I have a 2015 ram 1500 sport crew cab. It only has 10000kms on it. Hasn't been driven much, but I also experience the similar rattles or feeling of looseness or sounds you might call it. everyone might call it differently. I dont recall feeling/hearing these sounds/rattles from the front end...
Thank you for quick replies,
You mean the tweeters in the 77kick28ab are 4 ohm right? if that's the case then, I should be able to install the 77kick42 3.5" dash spekers with a bass blocking capacitor or something.
I wanted to follow the 8 ohm in dash and 4 ohm at door setup that is in there...
