83' W150 Rear Differential
I need any and all advice I can get on rebuilding a Chryco 9.25 with 3.55 gears from stem to stern. I have an idea but this will be the first attempt at this particular task. Thanks younzins.- Dan Dukes

Will 2001 3.55 gear ratio axles work for my 83 w150?? I found some for 150 each. Sorry for all the dumb questions. -

Or would getting a matching set off a newer truck with a differnt gear ratio work also? I suppose it would but im not positive. -

Is there another year model rearend i could get at a scrapyard thatd be a direct replacement? Im not positive what gear ratio mine is but i know itd have to match the front and all. Ive watched a few of those videos. Thanks -

Hello all, Ive never set up a rearend or anything and I was wondering how to install a new ring and pinion on my 83 w150. Im hoping someone knows of some links or diagrams. Painless makes a few different options that would work from what ive been told. Ive been studying up to rewire my 83 W150 for a little while now. I think Summit may have one too. Or if all else fails, you could hit the scrap yard.- Dan Dukes

Anybody have any ideas on giving an old engine a little more oomph? Ive got an old 360 from a 76 Cordoba that was transplanted into my 83 W150. Does your truck have a name?
My trucks name is "The Dan River Dodge" to my buddies. Joke goes around that i should just drive the POS into the Dan River. Needless to say really but it still needs some work. I like the name Maggie. -

It drives down the road fine right now but it is super loud, almost like a squeal and it stops when i let off the gas so i dont think its a u joint right? Im not sure really. I have had new bearings and a new crush sleeve eliminator put into the rear end. Before that it would "clunk' when i put in to gear. It doesnt now but when i had the mechanic "fix" the rearend he said its whining because i need a new ring and pinion. Im not sure how to install it really is what...- Dan Dukes

So first off, never have I ever meddled with ring and pinions, pinion bearings, gearing, so on and so forth when it comes to differentials. I took my 83 dodge ( a while back now) to have new bearings and i forget all what put in thinking itd fix the clunk of my chryco 9 3/4 (i believe) going...- Dan Dukes

Thanks for the replies. I dont think a Hemi is in the books for me. From what ive read, it requires a bit of added electronics. The magnum seems like a decent idea but gas mileage would be horrible.
