2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition Brings The End

The prices on these (and every other truck) have gone insane. Earlier this year you could pick up a TRX for about $130k CAD. Now look.

Towing help for someone brand new to trucks and towing.

That's interesting. I knew there would be some difference, but hadn't realized the tow cap was so much lower with the 3:21 rear end. I was able to find a chart confirming 8,040lbs for the 2019. Makes me even happier to have the 3:92s with an extra couple thousand pounds of wiggle room.

Towing help for someone brand new to trucks and towing.

No problem whatsoever. Your truck will pull that pretty easily. Just remember, proper weight distribution is your friend. It makes all the difference in the world on the road. One tip if you plan to fill the water tank on your trailer, is to plan a spot closer to your destination to fill up...

How many miles on your 4th Gen Ram

Similar situation for me. Had a 2002 Dakota with the 360c.i. (5.9L) and absolutely loved it. The thing was bullet proof right up to the day I traded it in. It's one of the biggest reasons I bought a Ram.

    regretting not getting a 5.7l Hemi 4x4

This is a familiar story. If you're not happy, and you have the means, trade it in for something you love. Life's too short. Often see posts from prospective buyers about whether or not to get the Hemi, and my answer is always the same. If your single biggest driver is mpg, by all means get...

Front & Rear Differential Service - Needed or Dealer looking for work ??

It's also worth pointing out that the OEM diff gaskets are about 70 bucks apiece, and the Mopar fluid is about 40 bucks a liter (x2) if I remember right. If I'm not mistaken, there's also an additional additive that they put in on some models of truck. They also do a flush, which I don't really...

Front & Rear Differential Service - Needed or Dealer looking for work ??

Maintenance schedule recommends 96,000 kms (60,000 miles) if towing regularly. I've never found a suggested mileage outside of that. Since I do tow a fair bit in the summer I had mine done at 100,000 kms (62,000 miles) at the suggestion of the dealer. It may have been a bit sooner than needed...

    Rams are not amphibious

Probably an expensive lesson. Lol And some inexperience on the driver's part. Either let off the pedal when he shouldn't have and stalled it, or tried to plow through too fast and sucked a bunch of water in. Hopefully an oil and diff fluid change will do the trick, and there's no permanent...

    Ram Shopping Help Please.

I didn't have time to read through the entire thread, so forgive me if you've already gotten this figured out. Depending on how much money you're looking to spend, I would recommend slightly newer if you're shying away from 2011/2012's. You'll get into more desirable options with the newer...

    A Ram 1500 without a Hemi?

Just an observation, but it seems to me from your posts that you're more of a Hemi guy. These trucks are so damn expensive, why would you buy one that doesn't put a smile on your face every time you get in it? Yeah I get that fuel is expensive. But if that was the only consideration you'd be...

Where to mount a fire extinguisher?

I think you took my comment too literally. It's not a required maintenance item per se, but something that - in the case of the minivan - would have prevented the fire from occurring. I was not suggesting you didn't maintain your vehicle properly. Only drawing a parallel to a recent experience...

Where to mount a fire extinguisher?

We did a case study on this exact scenario when I took a course on root cause analysis a couple years ago. It happened on a minivan, and basically was deemed to be the result of poor maintenance (not cleaning leaves out of the cowling). Ever since, I make a point of opening my hood and cleaning...

Love our 2018 RAM 2500 Limited Tungsten Edition but.......

I looked at upgrading to a 2018 earlier this year when they had all the discounts available. Word around was that the 2018's were having more issues than previous years for some reason. So I decided to wait a couple more years. I'm guessing it has to do with them shifting focus to the new 2019...

Towing: Gas vs diesel debate, 1500 & 3500

But it's not about trailer sway. If the tail is constantly wagging the dog so to speak, you have more of an issue with weight distribution and trailer leveling than you do with the size of your tow vehicle. A larger, heavier vehicle will just be able to handle that sway a little better. The...

Towing: Gas vs diesel debate, 1500 & 3500

If it's anything like the new ones, your trailer is about 8000lbs dry weight. Loaded with all your gear and full tanks, it's not hard to add 1500lbs or even 2000lbs. The eco diesel with the 3:55's is only rated for 8240lbs maximum trailer weight. Even with the 3:92's it's only just above...
