The PCM now controls the alternator field in more modern vehicles. Most times, the field has power and then the PCM modulates the ground to energize. What is hiding under all of that tape? Is there a bolt flange on one end and a partially installed universal on the other? Ideally, and just good overall practice, is to make some sort of "witness mark" so that you can even get the bolt flange back onto the rear axle the same way it came off...- FabricGATOR

Power draw
Most DMM (digital multi meter) have an amp feature (10 amp max) where you have to select it on the dial and will probably need to move the red wire to another input. There is a 10a fuse in the DMM to protect it incase it is used improperly- FabricGATOR

New fan clutch never disengage, problem?
That is normal operation. It will turn due to the clutches viscous friction until it heats up and then it locks up (thermal) Once it has drawn enough air through to cool everything down again, it will unlock and go back to fuel efficient mode.- FabricGATOR

Just return it and put the old one back on... I applaud that you're 'trying to do the right thing' Similar to, but just like wheeling out the parts canon when troubleshooting a malfunction, replacing a bunch of airworthy genuine factory parts with new chinesium is never a good plan.
