So the tick heard in the video I shared may have been partially due to an exhaust problem. I was driving a few nights ago and the tail pipes actually broke all the way off at the spot where they're welded to the muffler. I'm assuming they were at least partially leaking / broken and thus...

Fair enough. What do you mean by "shoots down the road"? Was it not related to how you had them aimed? But yeah, wouldn't hurt to try, and send them back if I don't like 'em.

That makes sense. I've never used AlfaOBD, but I've heard it mentioned often as it relates to the RAM trucks and LEDs, so it was just an assumption. I can say I did put some cheap LEDs in the reflector housings a while back and I've never had any issues with them.

Thanks. I'm not dead set on LEDs. I do like the way they look, but it ultimately doesn't matter. I don't have to drive much, and that's especially true of night driving. I'll do some more digging, and see if I get more opinions here as well.

Ah, what about the base ones sucks?

I couldn't find anything specific about this here, so I wanted to ask. Is the "base model" of Alpharex Headlights worth it? I as because I see those on Amazon, but I also see a "LUXX" model that is almost 4x the price (base is $200-something, LUXX is $800-something). This is the Base Model...

    Engine tick question

It doesn't tick when cold, at least not that I can hear. The tick doesn't seem to start at all until it's close to operating temp.

    Engine tick question

Cool, thanks. I haven't had a chance to inspect my exhaust manifold / those bolts. I may ask someone to take a look soon.

    Engine tick question

Mine actually sounds quite a bit like yours. And I bought it used around 128K miles in early October. It's ticked since I bought it. I work remotely and rarely have to drive anywhere, only put about 5K-6K miles per year on whatever my daily driver is (the truck at the moment). Here's a video of...

    Engine tick question

Mine sounds like it *may* have an exhaust leak when it first starts as well, and like yours, my '12 also ticks more as it warms up fully. Have you had a chance to get a video of your tick yet? I also don't have any indication of misfire, lost power, no CEL, etc. Just under 130K miles on mine.

    Engine tick question

That does sound awful. Was the tick rhythmic? The video sounds like it was somewhat random, rather than synced with RPMs. Or was that because of multiple failed lifters? I'm just asking because my '12 has a tick (doesn't sound as metallic) but very rhythmic, so I'm just curious if that matters...

    2012 1500 Lifter / Cam info

Okay, here's a short video with the much more pronounced ticking noise from the engine. Again, seems to come from the driver side, easy to hear at the wheel well. https://youtube.com/shorts/RTZbypm0jPc?feature=share I'm not going to be mad if everyone tells me this doesn't sound like it's...

    2012 1500 Lifter / Cam info

Thanks! I still need to get a video of the louder tick at full operating temp, but I haven't had the chance yet. The tick in the earlier video sounds normal to me as well (compared to practically every other vehicle I've ever owned) but I figured I'd ask anyhow. No, no codes at all. I actually...

    2012 1500 Lifter / Cam info

I finally have a video to share. At this point it wasn't so pronounced but I had only driven a short distance (about two miles). The lower rhythmic tone is what I hear, though it doesn't seem quite as clear in the video compared to in person. But that noise definitely gets much louder the longer...

    Best Mods for Under $100

I've blacked out all the badges / emblems with Plastidip. I put a cheap auto parts store LED in the interior dome light, and put some cheaper Torchbeam LED headlights in. All of those things totaled less than $100.
