My sister has a 2001 Ram 3.9 5 speed I think it has the NV3500 trans. But it is in desperate need of a clutch. and its also leaking, they have to refill the clutch master every so often.. So probably gonna need a clutch *****+master as well as clutch work.
Just kinda looking for general...
Alright. Made a jumper from pin 5 on the Brake switch to Pin 16 on the 22 Pin connector. I have brake lights!! Yay!!
So now i have to trace the wire back from pin 5 and replace that whole strand?
Alternately, could i Splice into pin 16 temporarily? just until i can afford to go to the auto...
Okay. with the old switch in place, Pedal not depressed i get a light on pin 6. With the pedal depressed on pin 5 i get a light.
Unfortunately i dont have a Multi-meter anymore. I borrowed my dads earlier.
Yeah thats the next thing on my list to check.
Im just trying to save my sister as much $$$ as i can.
I know tracking down electrical issues can be quite costly Headaches..
Will try to troubleshoot some more tomorrow and keep ya up to date.
But its Kinda dark and the Mosquitos are swarming me...
Managed to pull the Light out. Lost a Phillips bit in the process. lol but the bulbs in the 3rd light look good. (Filaments dont appear broken)
Which makes me think the Switch is the culprit again. maybe ill get another new one and just keep it.. Cant hurt too have a new part.
The "3rd Brake Light" doesnt light up either. but im unsure if thats from a bad bulb or a bad switch. But i cant really get to it because there's a Topper on the bed of her truck.
I know, But in the Haynes Repair manual i have it says
Pins 1 and 2 are RWAL/ABS Module
Pins 3 and 4 are the Speed Control Circuit
Pins 5 and 6 are the Brake Light Circuit
Yes. The pedal is hitting the switch. Tried a jumper but still nothing. Im thinking its a bad wire somewhere. Which is gonna be a headache to track down :(
And when i use my test light on Pin 6 of the harness i get power but none of the other pins trigger the light.
The turn signals and Hazards use the same Filament as the Brake lights, so i know the bulbs are good..
but i also replaced the brake switch and it didnt fix the issue. So i returned the new part...
Would putting a jumper between the pins on the harness trigger the brake lights?
