Many thanks to Deviate for the vise grip trick! I tried using the pulley holder from Oreillys with 4 bolts put in the pulley, tried jamming a screwdriver through the bolt holes to no avail. The vise grip trick was perfect!
Yes mine has ticked since I bought the truck in 2012. From calling the dealership service dept. and many posting on here, the ticking is a normal thing.
It really is a lot of fun to drive the 6-speed manual. The big Ram is super comfortable, yet fun to row through those gears. Not much else like it out there!
Hmm, I was not aware that it could be repaired. Perhaps this had been done before, explaining the difficulty I always had when installing a new oil filter. I'm happy having a brand new mount that threads easily now. For $8 it was money well spent I'd say.

Agreed. I know they still sell the 6 speed in the 2500, seems as though it should be possible for Dodge to equip the 1500 as well. It really is a shame. I suppose if I want to get a newer 6 speed a I need a heavy duty whether I need it or not.
