Took off the grill and cleaned the heck out of the condenser and radiator. They were filthy!
It's about to be 120 degrees where I live so I wanted to be ready.
The ac seems to cool off way faster and gages say truck is running 3 degrees cooler after the cleaning.
Noticed that the oil in my catch can was very, very dark and that oil has only been in the truck for 2k miles since I discovered the oil burn problem. Pretty sure when the oil got so low before I noticed it left some sludge behind.
I did a liqui moli flush and refilled with super tech...
Just checked the catch can after the first 550 miles with it. Had about 2 tablespoons of oil in it. Have about 800 miles since topping up the oil and it doesn't seem to have dropped any. I don't have a frame of reference but 2 tablespoons in the catch can doesn't seem too bad to me after 550 miles.
Update on this. I ran the redline fuel system cleaner and have been running the truck hard! I am just about through a full tank with the redline.
I emailed redline and they said to run 1.5 ounces of cleaner per 10 gallons of gas after the first tank with a full bottle of cleaner is finished...
I only have one vehicle and I use Mobil 1 extended performance high mileage synthetic. Pretty sure it's not the oil (as in totally sure lol). Might try another brand when I switch to 5w30 to see if that helps at all. I've always used Mobil 1 in all of the vehicles I've had and have never had a...
I've been running Mobil 1 extended performance high mileage full synthetic, I might try switching to redline as I've had good luck with their gear oils.
I had a 5.9 Cummins and loved it. Unfortunately I wasn't in a financial position to buy another when that truck got wrecked as I was in college and just starting out. When this truck gives up the ghost I'm definitely getting another Cummins, the Cummins is better than the hemi in every way for...
I realize one guy with a borescope does not make a scientific study, but the results are interesting nonetheless! Here's a before and after video of redline fuel system cleaner taken with a borescope down the plug holes. Cylinder 3 impressed me!
