How many miles on your 4th Gen Ram

173K on my '15 Big Horn

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Picked up two 5 qt jugs of Castrol 5-20 Edge extended (20,000 mile stuff) on clearance at Advance for $18 ish a jug and did an oil change. All the 5-30 was already gone, so went with the “factory recommended” viscosity. Came at a perfect time as I rolled 4900 since last change and I don’t go...

How do you level 8hp70 for fluid change/fill?

Just did this on mine last weekend. Had to jack up the back up right about 9 1/2 inches to get the pan rail level. I was on an absolute flat surface, my garage floor. I assume it's level because in neutral it didn't want to roll forward or backwards. Garage pads are supposed to be level and...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

What did I do to my 4th Gen this week? Tranny fluid change! And didn’t burn my hand filling it while it was running, but could feel the heat radiating off that pipe though. What a process it is. Jack the back end halfway to heaven, make sure temp doesn’t go over 122, park, reverse, neutral...

    Service intervals

Yeah that's hard call. Is the transmission pan about as dirty as the rest of the bottom of the truck or is it cleaner (indicating it hasnt been on that long).

    Makes no sense

Don’t know how I could have been any more precise…absolute spot on the one quart line for both the concentrate and distilled water. ‍♂️
  7. T

    Makes no sense

But I was using the same line for the concentrate and the distilled water. Concentrate was at the 1 qt. line. Poured that into a clean jug. Poured distilled water into the now empty concentrate jug to the 1 qt. line. Poured the distilled into the clean jug I had put the concentrate in. I mean I...

    Makes no sense

No, not using a refractometer. Just a standard old school bulb tester. I was being extremely cautious with measurements. I had absolute spot on 1 qt. of concentrate so I poured that into a clean jug, then poured distilled water to the same 1 qt. line on the concentrate jug and poured that into...

    Makes no sense

So I drained and flushed out the coolant, went with the Mopar purple goodness as I’ll call it, but here’s what has me stumped. I had a quart of concentrate leftover when finished and some distilled water leftover so I mixed a quart of the water to the quart of concentrate to make a half gallon...

    So I’ve been debating….

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I’ve watched the videos and know about the jacking it up, 86-122 degrees, let it shift to 2nd, etc etc, I just have one question…do the jackasses in engineering wanna come get that crossover pipe out of the way of my drain plug?

    So I’ve been debating….

changing my transmission fluid. Bought the truck used with 158k last year and it seems to shift fine, slight and I mean ever so slight slip 1-2, kind of a light flare maybe, temp runs around 183-188 most days, it’s only crossed 190 a handful of times, has the normal 2-1 bump when coming slowly...

Looking for opinions on which batrery

Got this exact battery for my 2015 yesterday...$131 out the door...only downside is it's pro rated for 36 months, not free replacement for 36 months. Maybe the cashier was wrong but that's what he said. Still beats $209 at AutoZone.

    weird coolant temp issue

So here’s what I tried and it worked! I removed one row of slats and buttoned it back up. Goes to 203-204 then drops to 194, then steadily runs 197-201. I can live with that. And no CEL . I took out row 4 counting the top as row 1 and going down. Figured that was pretty much the middle row. May...

8 Speed Slow Shift from Park

yeah it shouldn't be a full 4 seconds. My 2015 is pretty instantaneous, no more than a second

    weird coolant temp issue

In town it's a 10 second lapse from 203 to 196...on the interstate it's more like 2 minutes. 203...205...208...210 etc etc. up to 217. I would think a steady 70 mph wind across the radiator would cool it off quicker than 2 minutes. In town it'***** 203 at a red light and drop to 196 while all...
