Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

DING DING DING!!! Winner winner chicken dinner! I got the call from SIA Electronics, and my ECM/PCM is unrepairable. Processor is fried. I am now looking for a rebuild/refurb. Any reputable places you have used?

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Finally got a decent scan tool delivered. I was getting P0113, P0123, and P0222 codes. All relating to throttle position sensor, intake air sensor, and the TPS/IAC circuit voltage being low. With a new throttle body, the only common denominator controlling new sensors was the ECM/PCM. I...

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

I know of no such thing on a Ram truck and this is my 3rd one. My Ford work vans have that though.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

This is where I’m at….fuel at the rail, and dry plugs after cranking.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Someone recommended a fuel pressure sensor. The 2011 doesn’t have one.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Is there anything that goes THROUGH the TIPM before the ECM? It would not seem so.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Finally got some more cash, and am awaiting the arrival of a quality OBD2 scanner. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

Well, both of those sensors were replace, and I didn’t notice an issue with the plug in connectors, but I will look closer. Especially the cam sensor since that’s the one controlling the injectors.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

The 2011 Ram 1500s do not have a fuel pressure sensor. Nor do they have a fuel rail pressure sensor.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

My cheapo ODB reader got no codes, but that doesn’t mean anything. I will look into that tomorrow.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

I definitely have fuel to the rail, but not the injectors. Would 8 injectors go bad at once? Remember, my initial issue was it just died while driving. I feel like failing injectors would have had me running really rough leading up to the truck cutting off suddenly.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Ok. Just pulled cylinder 1’s coil and pulled a plug, after cranking. Plug was bone dry. I pulled the relay bypass and shorted the fuel pump switch, and heard it run. I then plugged the relay back in, turned the key to “Run”, and definitely could hear the pump prime. So, I have fuel at the...

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

@GTyankee yes… she turns over every time. When I take the fuel line off the rail, and crank, gas spurts out. I’m getting some kind of flow. Of course that’s not a guarantee that it’s getting to the injectors. I have a cheap ODB tester that says no codes. I need to rent a higher quality one I...

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

I will check the cylinder for gas after dinner.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

I have not checked the Mass Air Flow sensor, yet. This really has me baffled. I’m a parts changer, lol. I can rebuild an engine as long as the electronics are good. Chasing down electrical gremlins? That drives me nuts.

Watched that video…. My start relay seems to work fine, as I can turn it over easily. Unless this fix somehow resolves more than a starter not kicking in?

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

Fuel pump runs. How does one bypass the ignition?

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

One more thing…. Got the battery on a charger to get back to 100%. I’ve knocked it down to 11.85 volts from cranking it so much.

Let’s get to the bottom of these No Starts

My issue is the same as many other’s, my 2011 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman won’t start. My little adventure started about the end of July when my truck would sometimes crank, but not start. The crank would go on forever, if I let it. Sometimes, it took 2-3 tries to fire up. I KNEW it was going to...
