The timber groove bags replace the bump stops- i go up to bout 6500lbs with my trailer and its nice to be able to adjust the bags for my preferred ride height. I have on board air so that's the only thing about bags that could be an issue- when not towing i just keep some air in them per there...
Trailer tire monitors is the only thing i need to have but the aftermarket does it just as well- tire minder has alerts and temp which is worth it for me, i would rather have it chirp if i have one go down below a set level and or get hot letting me know i have an issue before it compounds into...
He's in Ca so he can't do the air box mods easily due to the smog police- it can be done but the costs make it quite the investment unless your going to be doing a lot of camping or overlanding stuff. I have a dc-dc charge unit that has a solar input for the camping side of the house battery but...
Equalizer here also- other than the squeak and creeks when you do tight turns or add some slope changes i have never had my trailer do anything other than bounce from the crappy manufacture spring setups- never a wiggle or any indication it wants to push my truck around. Had turn and burns...
Just check behind anywhere you drill- some areas are closer to the outer skin than others- mostly wheel well area. Aluminum or steel riv nuts are fine- need a better tool for stainless since they are harder. You can over crimp-crush them also- so do some testing before you install them.
The...
no it slides in and is bolted at 6 points- the issue with enclosing the sides just means it will collect crap better. i can still hose it out easily as i have about a 1/4 gap around the bottom rails. i have to clean out pine needles and leaves from the front section every once and awhile but...
Started with trying to strengthen the paper folded metal like bed caps that are under the plastic trim and just got more reinforced and organized as the truck got built out and i realized the whole bed structure is one step above cardboard. This is version two- if it goes to 3.0 i would just...
Invest in tools- figure it out on your own- the only limitations are the rods and the latch- and keeping enough strength in it. All my straps, shackles, and recovery stuff are in mine. I only messed with the removable cover but you could cut more as you wish. Make it yours, i just used some...
Just keep in mind rock sliders and running boards/steps are not the same things- most of the shown examples are very thin walled comfort items that take away from overall clearance. Most are just surface mounted to the pinch welds or use nut/ inserts- just fine for getting in an out- but put...
SpeedStrap 26580 Black 3-Point Spare Tire Hold Down with Looped End, 1 Pack- sorry don't log in very often, it was the only one specifically design for the task- only complaint is the black has faded faster then i would of thought- no issue with function, had a couple flats and i change out...
Question #1 should be- when you panic stop, can you get the truck to activate antilock brakes?
My truck would literally not be able to stop well enough to trigger the system when stock- (no trailer hooked up) i had more then a couple of situations where it was like will this thing stop in time...
I can still haul a full size palette or other truck stuff in a 5'-7" bed- the pre runner racks are cool but are not very conscious of what space you get, if you actually use it as a truck.
The cheap mounts of my old trifold top were bending the bed rails since they are so thin so now its bomb...
If it’s an own style flare you should be fine- my bushwhackers requires removal but they are about twice the size of stock.
all paint will fade if it’s been out for much time. The darker colors will do it worse- it will leave a darker ghosting to where it was. It will blend over time once the...
Your biggest issue will be the hit to your mpg- it will do it, depending on how much you spend to make it safe it’s still a big trailer for a 1500. I can do 70 up any hill with ours and keep up with traffic- just 4-6 mpg sucks if you have hills to climb or go anywhere near mountains.
that’s...
I went from the factory 20’s to the rebel 17’s and my truck is in a similar use pattern. Outfit for the worst case, and accept you will have to give up some other categories . I went with E range for the trailer towing and a little insurance on the trails. They cost more, and are heavy but now...
Once you paint the bushwackers they look better than the non painted versions. In any case your still going to hose the truck as crap still goes around them.
It's the cell towers, mines done it from day one- if you look around you will be dead lined up with the facing direction of a tower. I now know where every tower is within 20 miles of my home- it’s like they scramble it. As soon as you pass a certain distance it comes back- makes it hard to...
How old is the paint? It fades pretty quickly and an oem touch up may seem quite a bit different. Check automotive paint supplies via google to your location. A basic shop can sell you real paint and put it in aerosol cans. You will need to get the correct clear for the base as it will be two...
315/70/17
They are BFG ko2
They were take offs, so they have some miles- my express is 4x4 and it’s stock.
The 20’s were about 32’s if I remember
These are supposed to be 34.4”
The rebels are 8” wide and can take the wider tires then the normal 17”- so I tried them and am happy. Just the...
My neighbor has a rebel and the 315’s really fill the wheels wells better compared to his- no issues with stock height too so far other than my tpms system is freaking out after being fine for two days. Will level it eventually but the deal on wheels came up first.
It does ride soft- and squishier due side wall and depending on tread noisier. I just did the same switch but with 315’s - it changes how you drive- I wont be hitting the corners as hard now.
