I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 with the 3.7 ltr. v6. Does anybody know at what time in 2004 Dodge switched to electromagnetic timming on the v6. any help would be great.

Maybe downloading the service manual will tell you what you want to know. Timing is determined by the CKP sensor and controlled by the PCM. I don't see any reference to another style.

what im trying to figure out is ,when dodge switched the ignition from a distributor type to coil pack type. I recently had a engine swap done to my trk. the first engine that was sent died after 30 miles. the second engine got here after 2 weeks. that one is different because of the ignition. it would have been fixed earlier but the rotator ring on the crank is removable, on the original engine the ring is made with the crank, so there for we could not switch the rings , that is why im trying to figure out when dodge switched to the electromagnetic ignition in model year 2004.

The 3.7 v6 has been an individual coil ignition since it was released in 2002. Its a fixed timing engine so the timing would only be controlled through the computer. As far as the ring on the crank, i believe it was an ngc engine since its release which means it has a 32 tooth crank wheel. The 4.7 had a 16 or 32 tooth. It sounds like they either sent a 3.9 v6 or im not understanding your question entirely
