I have a 2004 1500 with 4.7 and keeps setting O2 sensor heater circuit high on all 4 sensors. No power to any of them with engine running. All 4 sensors previously replaced. Grounds are good- hooked up PCM from 2005 and they are getting power so I got another PCM and same thing. Got a reman PCM and same thing. I have worked for chrysler since 1997 and this has me stumped. Any one run into this?

How dichotomous. A German engine (ala Mercedes design due to them owning Chrysler when that engine came out... ) and a German brand of O2 sensor being incompatible! BTW, Bosch made OE sensors for Ford. I've no idea if they still do.

They owned them but that design was already in the works before that.....the evolution of an AMC design if I recall correctly. The Germans are the reason that engine never really reached it's potential.

Actually, that engine is a CLOSE copy of the 450 SL engine of the 1970's The fact that those were typically mated to German designed transmissions was no coincidence, either.

I actually had one in a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo. With over 100,000 miles on it, it was in very good running shape. Then, I loaned it to someone who was driving it when they "ran over something". Actually the plastic fan blade of the electric cooling fan failed and destroyed the radiator.
The moron driving it kept going until copious amounts of smoke/steam billowed from under the hood. Being so lacking of common sense, said dummy didn't shut it off, and called me to describe the issue. I asked this person to tell me if the temperature gauge indicated an overheat. they didn't "know how". I directed this person to look for the gauge with the little "sail boat" on it and tell me what it indicated.... it was pegged high. Engine was toasted. I replaced it with a Jasper unit.

I have seen them go 200,000 miles when properly maintained and never over heated.

It may be similar in looks and design, but as I said, it was already on the drawing board before the merger. 4.7's never saw a German trans (manual maybe, but never auto). Auto they were always mated to an RFE and that hunk of sh!te is unfortunately also a homegrown American design. :manos:

The Rfe is one of the best transmissions ever put in a half ton. Extremely reliable and simplicity. It doesnt have more gears than it needs to like newer trucks. Common sense, more parts = more to fail

WHA..?? Something “PLASTIC”… FAILED..!! ??

SURELY you JEST!

The 4.7 V8 was not a copied German design. It was an American Motors Corp design (their very last) which Chrysler acquired when they bought AMC.

It was/is a Very Good engine, and the 3.6L V6 is a derivation from it (just two less cyls). Excellent and Durable design. I’ve owned both and got many many hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles out of them.

HemiLonestar is mistaken, in that the RFE IS a German influenced design.
GM, Chrysler, AND Ford use(d) the ZF 6-speed for their trucks for some years. GM just HAD to put their engineering into a perfectly good design, and had mountains of warranty claims.
Ford, and FCA, on the other hand, left it alone, save for them making cases with their proprietary bell housings, to fit their engines.
I recently built a 722.6 Trans in a 2009 300C Hemi car. That transmission had the Mercedes name and emblems cast into MANY internal parts, yet, these parts are listed by both part numbers for Chrysler AND Mercedes.
That made it easy for me to get some parts from Mercedes which Chrysler had discontinued, by cross referencing the Chrysler part numbers to Mercedes numbers. This was especially helpful when I needed selective snap rings for the various clutch pack clearances.
Funnily, the 722.9 is the same unit, but electronically modified to increase from 5 speeds to 7.
You are mistaken lol....the RFE was already in development when the merger happened. Merger happened in 1998 and the RFE debuted in the Grand Cherokee later that year for the '99 model year. Can't blame the Germans for that POS. You look at an RFE cross-eyed and it's P0735, P0734, P0700. Junk.
The NAG1 (W5A580) on the other hand is an amazing trans but was already on it's way out at M-B when they threw it in the LX platform. Handles 392 power no problem. A few mods and it can handle Hellcat power.

You were good until that last part. The 3.7 is a 4.7 minus two cylinders plus some stroke. The 3.6 (Pentastar) is an unrelated clean sheet design with DOHC vs the 3.7/4.7 SOHC.
