Hello, this is my first post to this forum. I have done some searching and have found a lot of useful information but still have a few blanks to fill in while gathering everything I need for my 8hp75 4wd drive swap.

I would love to do a detailed step by step write up that's not contaminated with random tangents etc. same on YouTube. Shorts are great but always derail one way or another. Usually someone ranting about there dog and whatever else OR incomplete.

If your like me, my research opportunities are scarce and scant.

This will be going into a 2004 5.7 ram 1500 4wd quad cab Laramie

What I have so far:
4wd 8hp75 out of a 2019 ram 2500 6.4L
TCase
Torque converter
All the above came from the same vehicle
Sound German Automotive controller
Sound German Flywheel
Charger gear selector
-6an cooler adapter at trans
Aftermarket trans cooler

Items I haven't sourced
4wd dial selector
Needs the tcase motor
Front drive shaft
Rear driveshaft
Mounting components
The cash!!

The items I am struggling with are:

-Front drive shaft need advise on who makes one or if it's custom

-Rear driveshaft yes there are custom shafts out there but are about $1.5k well worth it for a drag setup, that's not me. I can have my local drive line guy take my existing and Frankenshaft something but just wanted to see what others have done.

-Mounting situation the write ups that I have seen are either 2wd and well detailed but not the same as 4wd so not much help OR 4wd set ups that do not really talk about the mount.
It looks like the 545 mount may work; TBD.

I appreciate any and all help.

- Good chance you'll be able to use your existing one, just need to compare with your new t-case
- You already have your answer, unless it's in bad shape
- I would get a look at the newer mount to see if that might be easier to modify; both transmissions were available in the 4th gen platform and between 4G-5G the underpinnings haven't changed all that much.

I figured this much, just curious if anyone had first hand done it before knowledge and if the 75 (2500) is different from the 70 (1500) mounting wise. I have automotive experience, my dad swapped a turbo 280z engine into a pick up back in 87 or so I was about 5 and was hooked when I saw that little turbo truck blow the tires off 1st through 3rd. Built a handful of 400-700 HP motors imports and domestica.
Just not familiar with this subject, obviously.
Not to mention just getting into the Mopar scene and modern vehicles in general.

At this point shops still have the bulk of the experience. There are members on here who have retrofitted to early 4th gen but as far as I know I'm probably the only other one on here (one guy did it) who was gonna put one in an early 3rd gen and we both had RWD's. Mounting should be the same between the 70-75.

Got it, from what I understand the 70 and 75 are the same case castings.

Hopefully I can get this done early next year and share my findings.
Currently closing in on the 6.1 stroker machining, install and tuning.

Ironically that is what is in the 04 QC running around Canadia; 6.1 stroker, 8HP70, though he ultimately chose to go with a Holley standalone.

Hopefully my timeline is as follows
Hptuners NA 600 ish HP this year
Early next year 8hp swap on HPtuner then turbo eoy
Following year may go standalone and actually get it on a chassis dyno.
Let's see

600ish hp + 545RFE = no bueno. The RFE barely tolerates 400+ at the crank. You MIGHT wanna do the trans swap first and get the hard part out of the way and have the foundation ready for when you do turn the wick up.

Your absolutely right but I am a victim of circumstances at the moment. Motor is already nearing the end stages and can't really turn back now. Things were going well until The anus of America aka New Jersey decided they are mandating health care even though it's not at the federal level and are forcing me to pay $1,400 a month for medical or they take my house. Need about $2k to finish it up.
Only teny tiny advantage I have is the trans only has 75,000 miles of very light use on it.

Yet another reason to add to the list of why I won't return home. I have a whole 2003 truck with a bad trans but a good engine I'll sell ya lol. Only a state and a half away.
Just remember to take it out of overdrive before hammering it. No full throttle downshifts from 4th or 5th; it'll kickdown straight to 2P, which shares the weaker clutches of the OD pack.

Lol, I think I need it the other way around bad engine and good trans.
Definitely not a throttle mashing set up.
More of a roll on the power situation for now.
