2012 Uconnect touch dvd system, Bluetooth/usb aux failure

I’m attempting to help my parents connect their phone in a 2012 Uconnect system with dvd and usb aux but the Bluetooth and usb aux do nothing at all. Just says Uconnect phone unavailable no matter how many resets performed and there aren’t any updates. Please help.

What model radio? In the lower right by the AUX port should be a three-letter code, such as RER, RBZ, RHR, RHB.

It’s pretty close to the same radio that is in my 17 Jeep compass so it’s confusing and frustrating as to why it won’t function. My usb aux in the jeep doesn’t do anything but trickle charge devices, no syncing but Bluetooth is fine.

what type of phone? ios? android?

RBZ

The RBZ uses an external uconnect module, which was an option. Make sure that is installed. It's behind the glovebox on the right side of the dash.

Does the error say uconnect not available, or phone not available, when you press the phone button on the radio?

USB aux does nothing but trickle charge a device on both the 2012 and the 2017 both rbz

I use an iPhone 15 and have tried to connect older ones thru USB as well. Android doesn’t function plugged in either.

It may not have the module, pull the little triangle trim piece off the right side of the dash, see if there's a black box attached behind the brace.
