2016 Ram 2500 6.4l wont go in drive.

When I try to go in drive the shifter will physically go all the way down but the indicator on the dash stops in neutral. I have to bump up and down and sometimes hard to get it to go in drive. It does it when I start up first thing, could do it going from reverse to drive, from park to drive etc. everything else works fine and even up shifts and down shifts fine. Any ideas?

Is this a column-shift vehicle?

If so, I suggest watchig a Y/T video. The metal on them can commonly break. Not too difficult to replace nor that expensive if you DIY. But could be something else, so watching a video would be a good idea. Somewhat common issue.

Yeah it’s column shift. I seen where the interlock switch was replaced by recall in 2018. I’ll keep searching, everything I find is about being stuck in gear or something like that.
