I would love to have a set of the 5" Carven exhaust tips for my RAM but I can't force myself to pay almost $200 for them when not too many years ago I was getting a complete dual exhaust setup installed at the muffler shop for the same price. In looking for alternatives I ran across this:

The top pic is the factory chrome tip off of a 2018 RAM and of course the lower pic is of a factory tip on my 2017 RAM. Do the newer models have larger tips or are my eyes playing tricks on me. If they are bigger it sounds like a better priced alternative to me.

yeah last time i had a muffler and pipes changed it was 140 bucks at a minute muffler. when i got my truck and swung by a local muffler shop for kicks to ask about a muffler change, I just about choked. Now..he does a lot of custom car muffler jobs so he and i were thinking about 2 different things (he almost sniffed with disdain at a catback kit. sounds like he's into his own custom thing) but he said it would be about 2K and probably break my warranty. I thanked him for the info...and ran. but having got the MF changed out for the stock muffler last month, I figured by the time I bought a recommended catback and install at a muffler shop, i would probably be looking at close to 2k canadian. When did this stuff become so expensive???? LOL. I'll be running this exhaust as is for as long as it lasts before changing it out at that price.

interesting on the tip size. I haven't had a Ram with dual exhaust before the current. who knew. the 2017 looks like a slanted tip while the 2018 i believe is flat? or is that just the perspective of the pic throwing me off?

I think that's just the way I took the pic that makes them look different. I guess this question being buried in a sub-forum my question isn't going to get answered.
