Crash68 helped a lot by letting us know about the longer gen5 wheelbase, so that's part of it.

Md sledman notices no difference between his gen 4 and gen 5.

Op and Hawkman report a large difference in turning radius between 2016/17 and 2024.

Question for md sledman: In 4wd, slowly rolling on snow or even loose gravel, can you turn your steering wheel more than 3/4 turn without feeling the bind?
Sorry I didn't respond (I was sledding in Quebec).
Not sure how to answer that. Snow is gone and I'm not on gravel very much at all.

I would guess that turning the wheel that far with any true four wheel drive, you would feel some binding. Now, if you compare that to AWD it's not the same.

I have to put my truck in 4x4 a lot to back my trailer into my driveway. Usually the driveway is filled with snow and the county road is multiple conditions. I will feel binding when doing that.

In the '24 the setting is 4wd auto.
I don't recall if the 16s offered auto, or if that makes a difference.

So, after 22 posts, you're now adding that the '24 has the 4WD Auto setting?
It's rather sporting of you not to include that info from the start.

Are you trolling us?

So, to clarify the issue, are you comparing turning in the snow with your 2016 in 4WD to the 2024 in 4WD Auto setting?

And you're experiencing this feature turning with the 4WD Auto selected as opposed to the 4WD high that you indicated in your first post?

Typically I have used 4wd high, sometimes 4wd auto.
It seems there's more binding in 4wd high, and far more than experienced in my '16.

The strength of this great forum is really so many fine Ram owners sharing their knowledge. It's much appreciated.
