I mentioned my cousin's super bee with the 383 lifting the tires off the ground. It does have a 4 speed.
Must have either 4.10's or 4.30's in the rear diff, and he must be running a drag radial or slick for that to happen,he ain't pulling front tires with 3.55's and street tires, unless he's very very good on the front bounce, and catches it on the 2nd or 3rd bounce, lol

Don't know what it has but it will lift the tires. I'm not talking feet off the ground but they are definitely off the ground

That was a beautiful 70 NJ.Personally the 70 to 74 Cuda's are still the best looking car made in my opinion. Nothing wrong with a 318,they got decent milege, and were virtually bulletproof. We stuck a set of 68 340 heads on and Direct Connection cam into a buddies 318 Scamp way back in high school, and it was actually a pretty decent little tire spinner.

Thanks Wild one, yeah that's one fish I shouldn't have let get away.
Had several 318 Mopars along the way, including this 72 Swinger that I sold to get the Gran Coupe.

Also had a 95 Dakota 318 5spd!
(in keeping with this being a truck forum ;))

This one is nice...don't know if it's all original, but it looks really sharp.

I can tell you it isn't all original - at least the drivetrain isn't original as the 440 was last put into the 71 Cuda. Biggest motor for 72-74 was the 340/360.

Which now that I think about it, it must have been due to the rising insurance costs. The 400 and 440 were still put in the B body and bigger cars. They also claim emissions and fuel costs helped end the BB option. Only problem with that was again the engines were still available and the 340 and 360 weren't significantly more fuel efficient than the 383/400 in real world driving.
Insurance premiums were a different story as the 440-6 and 426 cost much more to insure than did the 383 in 70-71.

Here's one on Bring a Trailer. Pretty cool looking car...

With 3 days to go in the auction it will certainly go higher than the current $31K.

That 71 Cuda is freakin' sweet...a bit much on the wheel tire combo though. Probably looking for over $100k on that one.

I have a buddy that's into the old MOPAR rides. He's done a few rotisserie builds that came out great. The green Challenger was a beast. He built a 440 that made in the low 600hp. The white one is in its final assembly stage as i type this out lol. He also had a 67 Dart GT he did as his first rotisserie build. He's such a MOPAR fan that he named his dog CUDA lolView attachment 503757View attachment 503759View attachment 503760View attachment 503761
Wait, the fender says 440, but the engine on the hoist is a small block. Same car?

Have a friend from high school that had one just like that one, same color, same 4 speed transmission. Got married and was building a house and was afraid he didn't have enough money to finish the house. Sold the 'cuda, and alas, he ended up with the money for the 'cuda still in the bank. He still regrets that.

When I was a young hot rodder in 1970s I visited my cousin in Michigan who had a '70 Cuda Plum Crazy Hemi which was his daily driver ! One ride in that rocket set my future. But even more incredible was the mint 1969 Superbird Canary Yellow complete with towel rack, parked in their garage !! Later I bought a 70 'Cuda 440 big blk w/ Torqueflite, '71 Challenger 340 - 6 pk w/ Torqueflite which was sadly rear ended by some ******* on meds and bent the rear 'frame' . So I sold for parts. Then wound up with a '73 Challenger 340 4bbl which paled to my other one due to Chrysler dropping the 340 compression down to 8.5. I kept the Cuda the longest but eventually sold it before the big nterest in them started to increase and bought a Cordoba ! Now just driving Rams. To the OP asking all the questions : The only way you're gonna get an close to or totally all original Cuda that needs minmal work is to pay the big bucks. Or spend the rest of your life looking for a " Barn Find". Cause based on what yer saying it sounds like ya dont have a pile of cash to get what you'd like. So its either get a shell and start building / restoring or pay the big bucks for a complete numbers car or get the Revell model - glue it together and put it on the shelf.

I wish I would have kept the sheet under the back seat, but if I remember correctly I tossed it years ago, along with the original block. Well and rear end. Lol
Has a B body rear end under it now with offset spring perches to allow a L60-15 tire to fit easily within the stock wheel well.
But hey the 4 speed is original :)

There's a nice looking 71 Challenger with a 318 for sale for $40,000 if you scroll down an ad or 2.This is a pretty decent facebook page to keep your eye on,if you're in the market for an older Chrysler muscle car.
