Hi All,

I recently bought a 2026 ram 1500 and want to add some protection to the engine opening from road debris, snow, salt.... not really looking for a hd skid plate for offroading. I found this piece from carid. I'm wondering if anyone had any experience with it?

https://www.carid.com/mopar/product-mpn-68501778ab.html?singleid=6332785736

Also, I've read other posts that stated the splash guard may obstruct air flow for engine bay cooling. I want to pick your brain on this topic.

Thank you,
W.

Where exactly does this mount? It looks like it fits over one of the turbos or maybe one of the cats? But I don’t think this mounts where you think it does if you’re comparing it to a skid plate.

if you are looking for a "belly pan" under carriage shield then like mikeru stated that part is not what you would be looking for and is just a replacement shield from exhaust and is also referred to as a "drip shield". Hard to tell exactly what is mounts to whether the alternator area but the design purposes is for heat shielding not so much anything else.

I was wondering why does this piece look kinda round and Now that you mentioned cats shield.... it makes sense... it's not what I'm looking for. Thank you for pointing it out.

Do you know any light duty engine bay shield that fits a 2026 1500?

Thanks,
W.

You can try and find a 3rd gen srt10 belly pan but nothing comes to mind that would be large enough. Crazy thought here but use a 4x8 sheet of starboard like a 1/8" thick sheet shouldn't be too expensive from mcmaster Carr and make a template out of cardboard. Ideally if you can find abs plastic sheet that big you can heat and mold unlike starboard.

I’ve also heard this sort of item called a debris shield too. Lots of people would probably be interested in this sort of thing if someone were to come up with a good design.
