Anyone know if the OEM trailer brake is year specific?

So I got a line on a used oem trailer brake controller today, getting it for a great price ( well below the dealers $400 ). But Im not sure what year truck its coming from. Mines a '16 so Im wondering if anyone knows if a control from a 14,15,17,18 will work. Ive googled it but can't really find out for sure.

The place im getting it from is over 3 hours away from me and they would be shipping it to me so to get it and find out it don't work would be a major pain.

Their gonna call me tomorrow with a few more details, so ill see if they do have one from a '16 just to be sure but would be nice to know if other years would work.

I did notice the Mopar site lists them as 16-19 so maybe thats the years?

I called the dealer to see how much they'd charge me to flash the code on my truck, a whopping $36.00 plus taxes. I really must admit my dealer does treat me very well.

I would think that the if it's 16-19 model years, you should be set.

It’s different for all those model years except the 17-18. Your pets dept can you get the right numbers, I know because I had bought the wrong one for my 1500. So I paid twice.

I’ll update this once I get it done tomorrow. According to the dealer parts dept 16-18 “should “ work. Fingers crossed.

Install wasn’t bad. Bolting the bracket on for the module is the worst part as many others have said. If you go on Mopar parts site and find the brake they have install instructions you can download.

Just got the brake flashed in. Went with no issues. I don’t have a trailer to test with but the gauges are showing up in the evic. So I’d say I’m good to go!

Best part is the dealer didn’t charge me to do it. They treat me very well there.

Seldom see a positive comment about a dealer service experience, refreshing to see.
