I think SC kits are only out for 09-10 Rams. You will have to swap to those year pcm which will require a harness swap as well. You might get lucky with an '11 pcm but doubtful. In 2011, Mopar sold the unlocks for the previous years while upgrading to the military grade encrypted pcms. Every year since 2011, the pcms have changed causing everyone to start over(diablosport included) square 1. I'm not sure if the '11 pcm was included but I see no kits for that year. If it was only a matter of buying a $299--$499 '11 pcm to make the conversion, I'd say we all would have one. I know I would.

The difficulty with these pcms is once you gain access to the first level of maps/tables and you are in the 2nd level, it realizes it's under attack and switches the unlock code to the first level. sh*t like that makes it difficult.

once you find your way into the levels of the pcm, you have to find addresses to the things you want to be able to change/monitor(PIDS). There are over 40,000 Parameters and I want to say 60,000.

I'm by no means an expert in this but it seems very complex stuff. Diablosport only offers so many addresses. As time goes by, they're able to offer more addresses but every year they have to start over, step 1.

SCT is really a great tool. They have merged with Bullydog who was the first to crack the unlock codes. I would find out if they have enough available to do a SC on a '12. No tuner sleeps on SCT and they're now supporting your year Ram. It will be interesting to see what tuning will be available with the tool.

Wow. Very interesting stuff. Makes me wonder what the heck these 2011+ boosted guys are doing to make it work..

That leads me to believe that the pcm swap would have a better chance of being tuned correctly if it were a 2010. Right?

I just want to be able to tune the truck correctly with whatever mods I do. :emotions122:

Thanks for the knowledge man. Much appreciated. :rockit:

There is one company out there that will splice the wiring harness. There are roughly 96 wires in the harness, makes it kinda messy and most companies and owners want OEM quality product or better. Also the CAN BUS, etc has to be swapped with the harness. Arington will charge between 3500-4500.

'12 can be tuned, VE tables are available and work arounds to achieve a goal. From what I understand there are some street drivabilty issues still. Tuners still cannot turn off certain idle, Transmission Nannies.

I see. Well thats a bit of good and bad news all at once. Good on the tuning, but bad on the street drivability. One thing I would like to have is piece of mind when Im in the truck. Im cool with breaking down in something old and beat up, but not in a truck that looks and drives brand new.

Thanks again!

Unbrokens truck did not have a PCM swap. It's the original PCM tuned by Arrington. They were given full access to Dodges stuff after SEMA 2012. I work for him and that info is straight from him.

A 2010 PCM has a 5 speed transmission, not the newer 6 speed trans
And the trans tuning is built into the engine tuning so a 10' pcm is not a direct swap for newer trucks.

Yes, Arrington does have full access but the SEMA '12 announcement never came to fulfillment. One way to find out if Unbroken is one of the lucky ones is tune. If he has a mopar recalibrated pcm he doesn't have a custom tuned pcm it comes directly from Mopar performance. The back of my pcm has a API sticker and I have to load my predator tune with the trinity, and that problem with API's custom tune cumminicating with a DS tool was resolved about 6 months ago by AJ.

Here's a quote from July 2013: "I think your mixing it up. Arrington hired dave kasper of bg chrysler. They have the ability to flash pcms without any assistance from chrysler and that is what they are currently doing. The actual chrysler tuning software fromchrysler hasn't been released yet last I heard. Aj will arrive shortly to correct me I'm sure."

The only difference in 5 & 6 is the valve body and solenoid pak. Swap those out and flash the TCM with the new software update. I'm not sure that's possible but that's it.

Fasthemiram did that back before they cracked the '11 codes. He had a '10 PCM flashed for his VIN and swapped the valvebody.

It's not that it would break down, it's more about part throttle response. At ant rate, the only ones really capable of telling you how, what, and why is Arrington. I would just call them again and tell them what you want and send them half upfront. No estimate necessary.

Nice. Thats definitely one way to get it done. I would be fine going that route if necessary.

Thanks dude

Im with ya. Yeah, Im not full throttle all the time, so that would be pretty critical for me.

Its so unfortunate that Arrington seems to be the only route with this. Seems like a real struggle to give them a bunch of money to do what they do. You sure wouldn't have to ask me twice. Oh well, I will deal with it if necessary.

I will post back once I've figured some more of this out.

Thanks again folks.
