2011 Ram 1500 with 65000 kms (approx. 40000 miles) Stored outside on pavement for most of the wet winter on Vancouver Island, west coast. After recently reactivating, horrible smell emitted from undercarriage. $1400.00 later rotor and caliper and brake pads replaced on one front and caliper on other front. Very puzzling, as we had just completed a 6500 km trip hauling an RV previous fall without any probs. I was informed if truck sits in moist weather for months at a time, a thin layer of rust will form on braking mechanisms and could be the reason for the breakdown. It was recommended after truck sits for long periods to gently pump the brakes to free them up. Very expensive lesson.
