You can do what they call a full wrap. So the entire car can have X-Pel on it. Most shops should be able to customize what you would like done. So yes to answer your question the film will protect it from minor door chips. Dents no.

I will add this, I have seen X-Pel get destroyed by hitting something and it not even leave a mark on the paint. Customer just had to get it replaced. Its good tough stuff.

A full PPF wrap is north of a few thousand dollars.

Yes but if you plan on keeping it its worth it. Most services like that report it to carfax so there is record it was done. The program I use Urable reports the vehicle being detailed to carfax. Its pretty cool.

I realize that you do "high-end" detail work and I assume that your clientele can afford to have their complete vehicle wrapped for thousands of dollars. I also assume that for most of us "common folks," that would be out of our price range unless you are lucky enough to own a TRX. If I had the disposable income, I agree with you--a full wrap would be a great thing to invest in.

It is definitely isn't cheap, but it is a worth while investment. I usually suggest is as soon as you buy a new vehicle and or plan on keeping it longer than 3 years.

For those that did ppf on the hood, did you do the full hood or just a bra?

I've found peroxide in the spray bottle works good on bugs. Best to do it before they dry otherwise it requires more work.

Anyone know what percentage stock tint is on the passenger windows?

Thanks

I would suggest a full front

I would suggest a full front with the leading edge and mirrors done. Think about all of the places you have seen bug guts in your life. The hood, the front end, the a pillars, the mirrors, and the leading edge of the roof. You could get away with half the hood, but if you are going to spend the money that is what I would suggest. Its all up to you though.

I want to protect the front of my hood getting chipped with bugs and rock chips.
I could go with a hood visor, or hood bra......... but I was thinking that a clear hood wrap would be better?
I don't like the looks of a hood visor and snow and ice gets trapped behind it, and I had front bras before but found out where they latch it rubs and damages the paint.
Hood Wrap ?
i used to get hood and windshield rock chips, ever since i got the bug deflector, the collision with rock chips on the windshield and body have reduce significantly. The wind that bounces off the deflector is like an invisible shield

well worth it!

I had PPF added to my grill surround, headlights, front & lower bumper, back of mirrors and also added the low pofile smoke colored AVS bug deflector...I have 20K on my truck and not a chip to be found so far...it wasn't cheap to have the PPF done but I think its well worth the investmest.

I'm going back to my guy to have black PPF added to the middle raised portion of my hood and along the lower rocker panels on each side to not only add protection but to also give it a somewhat unique look.

You sound like my wife lol...good thing I practice selective listening and I am getting good at selecting the option not to listen.

I have told people so many times that it is worth it to do this from an owners standpoint and a detailers standpoint. People laugh and say its a waste of money.
