2008 ram 2500 6.7L Cummins. I recently got this truck and really like it. I suspected that it hade some kind of tune on it but wasn’t sure. I hooked up an edge evolution to check everything, and put it into tow mode to see if there was any noticeable difference. Now I’m getting some codes that I cannot clear. I put it back to stock but they still will not clear. I’m getting p0487, p0037, p0031, p2141. So my question is, if there was something hooked up before, how can I go about putting it back, or how to I check to see if anything is either disconnected or removed?

If you were able to put the Edge tow tune on it then it was stock to begin with as the tuner wouldn’t be able to recognize anything other than the factory tune or a different tune from the same programmer. Does it still have the DPF filter on it? Is the EGR still intact?

I’ll check that. Any idea why I didn’t have any codes before and now they are hard set.

No I have no idea on that. I would also maybe try disconnecting the batteries for a bit to totally clear everything out of the ECM for good measure too. Sometimes strange things happen for no apparent reason. A couple years ago my boss bought a used 2008 F450 with the 6.4. It was stock and he wanted to delete it so I sold him a used H&S XRT PRO. He tuned the truck with it and removed the DPF and EGR and of course he put it on the highest setting. It was fine at first but like everything else he owns he drove the **** out of it for just a handful of miles and got some kind of CEL and the truck wouldn't even move out of his parking space here at the plant. I tried reupdating the tuner and even tried modifying the tune to no avail. Turns out all it was is that it was severely low on tranny fluid and nothing more, just a freak coincidence.

Stories like this is what deters me from buying a tuner, I know a lot of you have had great success with them but then there’s the few that have problems with tuners. It just makes me nervous nelly.
