i have a 2011 dodge ram 1500 i got a great deal on this 2020 engine for the most part everything looks the same i plan on using all accessories and intake from 2011 to put on this 2020 will this work. Before my engine blew up i already did mds delete so that was one problem i saw that might have messed up the compatibility. Also i will be mounting old flywheel let me know if im wasting my time.

You need to change the tone ring on the crank no big deal however you have to remove the crank from engine and then replace all the bolts$. I put a 2019 engine in a 2011 so 100% you have to do this also the timing cover will need to be swapped.

How hard is it to cha ge the tone ring?
You need to pull your old engine remove the crankshaft un bolt the tone ring. Take new motor pull the crankshaft re install your old tone ring if you have never tore a engine down before I do not recommend doing this just find a engine that fits.

What's the mileage on this 2020 engine?

If it somehow has a lot of miles, or even 50k, then at that point, if ya have the crank out, a guy has to consider if he should put in new Standard bearings and crank seals, timing set ..since yer literally looking right at them. Yer going to need to buy new bearing TTY bolts, which can be an expense. But if it's reasonably low miles, and the bearings look mint, then probably wouldn't need new bearings. Might have to pop off the caps and see how they look (on both engines), take yer time and make a judgement call.

But then again, you could do that with your 2011 engine too... if it's sitting right there on a stand with the crank out. Hone the cylinders, throw a kit at it ...new lifters, oil pump, timing set, see how the valve seats look and do whatever on those ...and slide er back in. Probably good for another 100k mi. Sell the 2020 engine for a tidy sum and pocket the change. Take yerself out to Taco Bell and treat yourself right. :waytogo:

Cheers
.

The ECM relys on the crank sensor to determine timing when to inject fuel and controls the spark plugs. More than likely you'll get errors and not start.

I ordered this tone ring for my 2011 bc my one on my old engine got damaged. Chipped a small tooth on it. is this one attached correct. Looking at my crankshaft shaft im swapping to it only has 3 bolts not 4 will that be a problem if they relecutor is right?
