I had mine out the back when I first got it. stock headers, cat, no muffler with Magnaflow tips. I have another video but can't access you tube at work. look under wermbang there.

I now have it cut off just behind the cab so that I can curve it out to just in front of the rear tire. it will exit like so

It sounded pretty good, what size tubing to what size tips? I was thinking about glasspacks but I want it to sound good and I know some glasspack setups are funky sounding

Just remember too large of pipe & the less restriction you will notice a loss of low end torque. I was blown away when I had a very low restricted muffler on my 97 S-10 Blazer 4x4 at the loss of low end torque. I would of never believed it until I did it.

So should I do 2.5" piping with muffler? Or without? Any ideas? I want a nice deep tone some crackel but a deep louder sound throughout all rpm ranges (if possible)

I think the 2.5 is a good size pipe for our trucks.

For the "crackel" you need a glass pack, for the deep tone you need a good brand muffler. I have not heard one with the other yet, a choice you kinda gota make Before doing exhaust.
Personally I enjoy the deep rumble of a good muffler Moroso makes one I enjoy the hell out of Moroso Spiral Flow Mufflers - JEGS This with 2.5" tubeing and your cats if you need to keep them would sound mean I beleave.
But then again the stock exhaust note from the 360 always sounded the best to me, if not the best performance =)~

I have a 5.9 with MOPAR installed CAI, CARB legal headers and a 2.5 mandrell bent pipe in the stock spots, it sounds pretty nice as is...oh it does have one of those resinator tips on it too..

Some of the tips clean up the sound, others completly choke it out.

The closer to the end of the pipe you get with the muffler the deerp the sound MOST of the time, usally a bit louder too though.
As for one or two if your not splitin it off the cats and running a true duel I'd just go with the one and not worry about spending the extra $50. But thats just me.

Yeah I would just do the one going 1 to 2, instead of 2 mufflers.
