I am looking to take advantage of the "Holiday sales" and pick up some exhaust components. I have decided upon the Magnaflow Y-pipe and 18" muffler (still deciding on headers, I guess if a great deal came along :) ).
What are you guys/gals running for muffler configuration? Center in/out, offset in/out, center in/offset out, offset in/center out etc? I believe the specs I am looking at are 18x9x5 for the muffler. It looks like there is quite a bit of room around the muffler so it might not even matter on the in/out configuration. Y-pipe, muffler and resonator removal is the minimum I will be doing right now. With that in mind what would require the least amount of pipe bending and welding...

Thanks.

I'm running Pacesetter LT headers, to Hi-Flow Cats, to a Raceland Cutout, to an 18" magnaflow centered SI/SO.

My exhaust didn't require any bending, just welding on pieces.

Awesome, thank you much.

On a side note BlackedOutHemi, did you do your exhaust set-up at once? I am just curious as to how much Headers add to the equation, performance wise. Cost vs performace gain.

I did not do it all at once. The muffler was on the truck when I bought it used, and I just kept it when I added the LT headers, hi-flow cats, and the cutout. I couldn't tell ya the exact amount it added. But when paired with my Vararam and DS tuner I'd say it gets the job done well.

Mines setup with pacesetter lt headers, leading it to the stock cats opened up to a 3" in/out, to the pacesetter Y pipe, to a raceland cutout dumped, to a 12" Bola XR-1 race muffler, si/so centered and dumped over the axle.

Nice. So you can run Lt's with oem cats! Good to know. I just ordered my muffler and Y-pipe. I plan to start with those and go from there. I have some 3" piping left over from a prior project, so I think that will make a good resonator delete and tail pipe. Finally found a use for it, I almost gave it away.

Do you have any sound clips?

Do I have any sound clips lol

you can hear the cutout open up about a min into it. Keep in mind mine is also cammed.

As far as the cats, yes you can reuse them BUT they need to be opened up to a 3" in/out, the pipe going into them stock are 2.5" I believe. and the header collectors are 3"

Here's how it sounded right after the cam went in, same exhaust but the idle is a little lower so it gives it a much lopier sound

Working on getting that fixed, maybe this next week I'll be able to get everything updated like I want since I have the time off

Best run so far has been in the upper 13's with DR's, that was a while ago though. Hoping the caltracs, some tweaks to the tune and the vararam can drop it a bit lower though

I just wanted to report back. I had my magnaflow ( Part # 12249) installed yesterday and I am loving it. I was going to have my Y-pipe (Part # 10778) installed as well, but I dropped in when they first opened w/o appointment so they wanted too much to do the fab work for the Y-pipe (they were already doing me a favor by bumping me ahead of the cars in the shop already).
So I left with the muffler welded in, resonator removed. Basically 3" y-pipe back exhaust. Initially the exhaust tone was loud to me, coming from stock exhaust. start-up it has a very mellow deep rumble (perfect). Driving off throttle it sounds like a stock ram, but once you touch the gas it had a nice deep mellow growl that doesn't seem to increase loudness much with RPM, but the tone does in relation to RPM (slightly higher tone). Full throttle as it winds up I can still hear the engine, if that gives you any indication of the loudness of the exhaust. I am loving this exhaust. Now on to the best part....performance...
Power wise my butt dyno tells me it's about equal to the power gains I got from the Diablosport tuner on 91 octane. Driveabilty is waaaay up as well.
