Hope I get some good feedback. I have a 2017 Ram 3500HD diesel with Aisin transmission. SB, CC. It has 13k miles.
I purchased this truck in December. When it started to get warm out side I noticed that the cooling fan (?) would cycle on and off. This happens when it is 60 degrees outside or above, have not heard it at 59 degrees or below. I do not have the A/C on. It is very loud, one can hear it when driving. Although, because of road noise I cannot hear it when I get above 55mph so I don't know if this cycling continues or not. It will cycle up and stay on for 30 secs to a minute then cycle down to off a couple minutes later it will do the same thing. When at Idle, it will do the same, not as loud and can only be heard if you are standing outside the truck. I do not see or feel any power loss. I took it to my Ram service department. The diesel mechanic said this is "normal". I have been driving Ram diesels since 1999 and have never heard this unless I am pulling a load up a major grade. My company has a few of these Rams and none have this issue. I disagree. Has anyone else had this issue and is it "normal"?
Any help would be appreciated.
